About the RoleWe are seeking a hands-on Linux System Engineer to build, operate, and optimize the Linux compute and storage environment supporting Bitdeer's IC Lab in San Jose, California. This role owns day-to-day system administration, automation, monitoring, and troubleshooting for the lab's engineering infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance for its workloads.
Responsibilities- Configure, maintain, and optimize Linux-based systems.
- Develop and maintain Shell scripts for automation and operational efficiency.
- Manage storage systems, including NetApp, Ceph, and ZFS.
- Implement and maintain system automation tools for provisioning and configuration management.
- Deploy and monitor system performance and health using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, and Prometheus.
- Administer resource scheduling software for workload management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Apply networking and security best practices, including firewall configurations and access controls.
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration (CentOS, Ubuntu, Red Hat), with expertise in system tuning and performance optimization.
- Proficient in scripting (Shell, with Python or Perl as a plus) and automation tools (Ansible, PXE, Kickstart).
- Experienced in storage management (NetApp, Ceph, ZFS) and system monitoring (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus).
- Knowledgeable in resource scheduling (Openlava, Slurm) and networking/security best practices (RHCE/CCNA preferred).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with an innovative mindset to drive system improvements.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, able to perform under pressure.
