Description

Job Overview:

The Lifestyle Director is responsible for developing, organizing and programing all entertainment activities for the on-site property. Must continually maintain and improve all aspects of the clubhouse-oriented social life.

Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Organize all resident activities, on and off premises, including dances, bus trips, theme parties, holiday celebrations, card games, exercise programs, etc
  • Conduct an assessment to determine those activities in which the residents would be most interested in pursuing and/or participating
  • Supervise the development of new and existing clubs that reflect the interests of the Community
  • Document resident participation in group and/or individual social / recreational programs
  • Manage all areas of special events, games and entertainment encouraging participation
  • Supervise catering (food and beverage) for functions
  • Supervise decorating and promotions for functions (where needed)
  • Supervise all operational and technical requirements related to clubhouse activities such as lighting and sound
  • Coordinate all club meetings and use of rooms
  • Establish and supervise the necessary committees as required
  • Schedule shows, holiday parties, special events, etc
  • Keep a calendar of activities for the community
  • Preparation of monthly in-house news publication (1-46 pages). Be responsible for the overall lay-out of the publication and distribution
  • Responsible for developing and distributing the weekly activities calendars, advertisement layouts, size of ads and sales
  • Oversee and advertise ticket sales for shows
  • Order and display event and show posters
  • Oversee and refresh all bulletin boards in clubhouse
  • Serve as Host, Mistress/Master of Ceremonies for events. • Order needed supplies (e.g., art and craft supplies, party supplies, etc.)
  • Oversee the activity budget to ensure that costs are maintained within budgetary guidelines
  • Plan special "theme" days or months around holidays, seasons, or recognized days such as Father's or Mother's Day
  • Other duties as required


Skills & Qualifications:
  • Solid computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, mass email, database management, etc.).
  • Must be proficient in Publisher
  • Able to work with vendors and members organizing events in a timely manner
  • Must possess public charisma and ability to develop positive relationships with diverse groups
  • Must possess strong administrative skills to include organizational, prioritization and time management skills with the demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task
  • Must possess strong ethical practices
  • Must possess budgetary knowledge and control for the purpose(s) of executing community events, programs and communication expenses
  • Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and implement the ideas of the team
  • Must possess the ability to think and work independently with self-direction to ensure success as a team
  • Must possess the use of good judgment, critical thinking, and business "savvy"
  • Strong administrative background
  • Excellent working knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Outstanding interpersonal, office management and communication skills, as well as a self-starter and multi-tasker
  • Critical thinking, complex problem solving, judgment and decision making


Education & Experience:
  • Associate degree in business or related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years or related work experience as an Activities or Social Director required.
  • Must have strong entertainment planning background.
  • Experience in the implementation of content to website, eblasts, newsletter and social media platforms

  • Hours over and above normal office hours will occur, including evenings, weekends and some holidays, based on business needs
  • Physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Standing, sitting, walking, carrying, and occasional climbing
  • Ability to work extended/flexible hours and weekends
  • Must be mobile enough to move around office and community to monitor all facility programming or outside events, including walking on uneven surfaces and standing for long periods of time (typically up to 4 hours at a time)
  • Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time (around the pool or during events and activities)
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and receive telephone calls and voice mail messages and maintain positive communications with clients, guests, residents, vendors and co-workers
  • Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks
  • Must be able to handle pressure and deadlines related to the job


Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Indirectly supervise Resident Relations Specialists during events as needed


Tools & Equipment Used:
  • Microsoft platforms, kitchen utensils, rolling carts
  • Valid California driver's license required with state mandated vehicle insurance


Travel:
  • Some travel required for offsite events and preparation for onsite events.
