The roleWe are hiring a Lead Product Designer to own the user experience from order to results. You will work with our product engineers, bioinformaticians and scientists on the next big thing in biology.
What you'll do:- Own the end-to-end product experience from ordering through sequencing results and raise the bar on every screen you touch.
- Establish a design system for our UI and data visualization. You will focus on the sequencing results experience where most of our value reaches the customer.
- Work with our engineers and bioinformaticians to turn complex workflows into intuitive software that makes the user think "why did this not exist before?"
What we're looking for- You have a portfolio that shows range and craft. We want to see things that have made it to production.
- A track record of operating semi-autonomously: ideally as a founding designer, senior IC, design lead, or similar role where the design decisions were yours to make and live with.
- You can ramp fast in technical domains. We don't require a science background, but you should be energized by complexity and willing to learn.
What would impress us even more- You are comfortable wearing the PM hat occasionally and making sure our user experience is reflected in product decisions.
- You have experience designing for a deep technical domain or complex data visualizations.
- You got obsessed with a problem and built something to solve it, even though nobody asked you to.
What we offer- We are a bootstrapped, profitable company at an exciting inflection point.
- Ownership and impact. Your work goes directly to 70,000 scientists, including Nobel laureates, who trust Plasmidsaurus with their research.
- A tower office in South San Francisco with bay views, state-of-the-art lab, and the occasional batch of liquid nitrogen ice cream.
We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly align with the job description as we seek out diverse and creative perspectives. Team members who love to learn and collaborate in an inclusive environment will thrive with us.
