Job Description

As a Lead Platform Engineer, you will provide strategic technical leadership for critical platform infrastructure, delivering expert support across hardware, operating systems, and system integration. You will lead cross-functional collaboration with development, operations, and quality assurance teams to drive successful project delivery, system upgrades, and technical issue resolution while maintaining the highest standards of security compliance and industry best practices.

What will you do?
  • Lead day-to-day support operations for Wealth Management applications platforms across Linux, Windows, and Cloud environments (public & private), while mentoring team members on best practices and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Own security patch and update strategy for operating systems and applications, ensuring platforms consistently meet RBC security and compliance standards while driving organizational security improvements.
  • Direct platform upgrade initiatives for operating systems and middle-tier applications, taking responsibility for regulatory compliance and risk mitigation across the infrastructure portfolio.
  • Lead problem-solving efforts by establishing diagnostic frameworks and resolution protocols that empower the team to efficiently resolve complex errors and issues reported by users.
  • Design and implement monitoring and alerting architecture for Data platforms to ensure stability, resiliency, and proactive issue detection across the infrastructure.
  • Spearhead platform initiatives from conception to completion, ensuring successful delivery and stakeholder alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Establish and oversee knowledge management practices, directing the creation, maintenance, and updates of comprehensive documentation including troubleshooting procedures, best practices, and lessons learned across supported systems.
  • Champion automation and AI initiatives, identifying and evaluating automation tools and AI technologies to enhance team capabilities and operational efficiency.
  • Drive strategic participation in technology upgrades, system integrations, and process improvement projects, collaborating cross-functionally to deliver enterprise solutions.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the WMT-Platform Infrastructure Team, managing resources and contributing to organizational objectives while supporting management initiatives.


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have
  • 5-10 years experience supporting critical infrastructure and related components
  • A university degree in Computer Science and/or related field
  • 5 years experience working on and promoting team ideas, standards, concepts and initiatives
  • Lead technical initiatives leveraging advanced expertise in OpenShift, Linux, and Windows environments to guide team implementation and best practices.
  • Direct cloud architecture strategy across public and private cloud platforms, with demonstrated proficiency in Azure, AWS, and S3 services to optimize organizational cloud infrastructure.
  • Champion database solutions and mentor team members on database design, optimization, and management practices.
  • Model exceptional leadership communication, demonstrating superior interpersonal skills and clear articulation of technical concepts to cross-functional stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Drive innovation and strategic problem-solving by applying creative and analytical thinking to complex technical challenges while maintaining composure in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution efforts for critical technical issues, establishing processes and standards for continuous improvement.
  • Manage competing priorities and workload distribution, ensuring team effectiveness and project delivery timelines.
  • Mentor team proficiency in programming and scripting languages including PowerShell, Shell, JavaScript, and other emerging technologies, while demonstrating hands-on expertise.


Nice-to-have
  • Solid understanding of general networking & SAN principles.
  • Experience with automating manual processes and levering AI technologies to enhance day-to-day process.
  • Knowledge of SSL certificates, implementation, operation and utilization.
  • Wealth Management knowledge is an asset.
