Position Summary: This position leads the management and development of social services provided through the Grand Valley Area Command in Kent County, Michigan and supports service integration. The Director will lead and support social service staff and will facilitate positive and productive internal and external relationships. This work includes services in case management, energy assistance, food security, housing and homeless services, and spiritual care.

This position is responsible for the fiscal oversight of Kent County Social Services (KCSS) programs including contract management, negotiations, and budget preparation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Maintain open and effective communication with all Kent County program units and with Grand Valley Area Command (GVAC).
  • Support service integration and cross referral between The Salvation Army programs as needed and
  • Participate in workgroups and committees within the community to engage the various service
  • Be familiar with community resources and collaborate with collateral
  • Serve as staff liaison to divisional headquarters, Kent County corps, and advisory
  • Oversee all agency proposals and contracts; actively pursue new funding
  • Ensure that data resources are kept current and
  • Represent agency on community boards and task
  • In collaboration with the Kent County Development Office, develop and implement a marketing
  • Oversee the Program and Services Committee for Kent County.
  • Performs other duties as


Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited university.
  • Fully licensed professional required LMSW.
  • Five years of full-time administrative and supervisory experience including budget development, fiscal management, and experience in a human service setting required
  • Experience with low-income populations preferred

      • The accrual rate is based upon years of service and approved hours worked.

    • Paid holidays are effective immediately.
