Position Introduction:The Manager of Operations provides leadership and oversight for teams responsible for core IT infrastructure and operational services. This position helps ensure the reliability, performance, security, and support of critical systems that enable university operations across OU.
This role is responsible for supervising technical staff, coordinating operational work, managing priorities, supporting incident response, and helping drive improvements across infrastructure services. The Manager of Operations works closely with IT leadership, technical teams, and campus partners to ensure services are delivered consistently and aligned with university needs.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical leadership experience, a working understanding of enterprise infrastructure environments, and the ability to manage people, priorities, and operational responsibilities in a complex IT organization. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on team execution, service reliability, process improvement, and support for critical university technology services.

Required Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree.
- 36 months in management, leadership, or project experience.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 84 months of experience.
Required Certifications and Licenses:- Valid Oklahoma Drivers License in order to drive University vehicles
Department Preferences:- Experience leading or supervising technical infrastructure or operations teams
- Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure services such as servers, virtualization, cloud platforms, storage, backups, identity, monitoring, or systems administration
- Experience managing operational work, service requests, incidents, and competing priorities in a complex IT environment
- Experience coordinating work across multiple technical teams and stakeholders
- Experience supporting critical production systems that require high availability, reliability, security, and operational discipline
- Experience improving operational processes, documentation, standards, or service delivery practices
- Experience participating in incident response, change management, maintenance planning, or problem resolution activities
- Experience in higher education, public sector, K-12, or another complex enterprise environment
