The Work:
The Infrastructure Operations Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of the organization's enterprise collaboration, reporting, and authentication platforms. This position requires excellent technical skills, a thorough understanding of hybrid environments, and a strong ability to support compliance initiatives such as authorization to operate (ATO). The engineer will maintain, support, and improve critical infrastructure systems, which include SharePoint platforms, Power BI Report Server, SQL clusters, and other enterprise services deployed across on-premises and cloud environments.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, configure, and maintain on-premises, Azure, and cloud-based SharePoint environments.
- Perform comprehensive troubleshooting, monitoring, and performance optimization for SharePoint systems.
- Support governance efforts, service requests, and user inquiries to ensure smooth operation.
- Administer SharePoint Online (SPO), including security management, access controls, and feature configurations.
- Administer and maintain on-premises/Azure Power BI Report Server environments.
- Configure data sources and manage report deployments while addressing report accessibility issues for users.
- Monitor server performance and ensure report refresh reliability.
- Oversee and troubleshoot SQL servers associated with Power BI Report Server operations.
- Support ADFS environments, including troubleshooting authentication and claims-related issues.
- Maintain configurations to uphold secure and reliable access to enterprise applications.
- Provide baseline SQL administration and support for mission-critical database servers.
- Monitor and test failover cluster functionality to ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Collaborate with database teams on patching, maintenance, and system stability optimization.
- Perform routine Windows Server maintenance, including patching, updates, and configuration management.
- Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and lead ATO remediation efforts.
- Monitor system health, analyze logs, and respond promptly to alerts to maintain reliable server operations.
- Manage or support Azure services related to hybrid integrations, identity storage, and SharePoint Online.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot cloud-connected systems, ensuring stability and efficiency.
- Participate in initiatives that enhance cloud governance, automation processes, and operational best practices.
- General Infrastructure Operations
- Respond to escalated operational tickets and provide timely resolution of system issues.
- Develop documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures for infrastructure systems.
- Participate in system upgrades, migrations, and enhancement projects to improve functionality and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including security, networking, development, and data platform teams, to optimize operations.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience administering SharePoint environments (on-prem, Azure, and SharePoint Online).
- At least 3 years of experience with patching, security hardening, and compliance-focused remediation tasks (e.g., NIST 800-53 or similar frameworks).
- Direct experience working with Power BI Report Server, SQL administration, Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), and Windows Server operating systems.
- Familiarity with Azure services, hybrid cloud models, and associated components.
- Proven troubleshooting expertise and effective time management skills for handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Active Top Secret/ SCI Security Clearance.
- Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
