Position Highlights

The Multnomah County Circuit Court is hiring an Information Technology Associate.

In this role...

You will be responsible for on-site support. Respond to requests for assistance and answer questions in-person, remote, phone, and Microsoft Teams. Research and resolve a wide range of court technical support issues. Configure, install, and troubleshoot mobile and desktop equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers, scanners, monitors, public kiosks, and displays at all court locations. Work with vendors and manufacturers to troubleshoot installed hardware and software. Manage security access for new and existing court staff and judges.

Manage asset and annual IT technical inventory. Document any changes to the inventory process by recording disposed equipment and new equipment purchases.

Configure and install Voice-over-IP (VOIP) phone systems, conference room equipment, and Cisco Finesse and Jabber unified communications software.

You will be responsible for providing services during an official closure due to hazardous environmental conditions or an inoperable facility.

Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position, with a rotating work schedule to cover multiple court locations. The regular schedule for this position is 3:00PM - 12:00AM, Wednesday through Sunday. Assigned tasks are re-assigned every 3 months. The scheduled hours and work locations for this position are assigned by the IT Desktop Support Supervisor and subject to change based upon the needs of the department and organization.
  • The position is not eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked more than 40 hours per week.
  • This position is scheduled to work every weekend and any holiday that falls on one of its assigned workdays.
  • This position assumes on-site availability as needed to support information systems and court's internal operations, planned projects, and necessary assignments as directed by the IT Desktop Support Supervisor.
  • Frequent engagement in multiple projects requiring rapid response and orderly transitions between assignments.
  • In-Person and remote contacts with internal and external clientele with different backgrounds as needed.
  • Frequent use of stairs and elevators between the basement and the 17 floors of the courthouse is required. The equipment storage, telecom and server rooms in the Central Courthouse and the data center room in the East County Courthouse are both cool and noisy. Occasional time may be spent in these areas performing job functions related to asset arrival and management, tape backups, and network and system maintenance.
  • There are frequent long periods of sitting or standing. Lifting and moving heavy/bulky objects on a regular basis, including but not limited to computers, video and audio systems, printers, monitors and other technical equipment.
  • This position may require lifting and moving computer equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, frequent bending, crouching, crawling and working under desks or in tight spaces.
  • This position will require the IT Associate to travel on foot between court locations in downtown Portland, including a facility located roughly two city blocks from the primary worksite. Because this position's regular schedule is 3:00PM to 12:00AM, such travel may occur after dark in typical metropolitan downtown conditions.
  • As assigned, the IT Associate may be required to travel by vehicle to other Multnomah County Court facilities or as far as the Enterprise Technology Services Office in Salem. Evening or nighttime travel may be necessary to support urgent operational needs or supervisor-directed assignments.
  • This position will be required to enter and work within the Pre-Trial Release Department facilities located inside the jail intake center. These areas require specialized training, security clearance, and adherence to established safety protocols and facility-specific procedures. While performing duties in these environments, the IT Associate may be exposed to elevated noise levels, tense interactions, or occasional verbal or physical incidents involving adults in custody and law enforcement staff. The IT Associate will not be responsible for interacting directly with adults in custody but will provide technical support to employees who do.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Parking

Multnomah County Circuit Court does not provide parking for the central courthouse or justice center staff. Daily parking is available across SW 1st St from the central courthouse (monthly parking is limited). Another option is the Douglas Garage at 1835 S River Dr, Portland, OR 97204. Parking cost is $165/month and is a half-mile from the courthouse and justice center.

You will be subject to a criminal background check if you are a finalist. Adverse results are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may result in disqualification if the circumstances are directly related to the duties and responsibilities of the position.
