Job Description:

ICAM Technical Writer

GDIT has an opportunity for an ICAM Technical Writer supporting a large line of business delivering enterprise‑scale Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) capabilities. This role provides critical support to the DoD ICAM mission by developing, maintaining, editing, and publishing clear, accurate, and high‑quality technical documentation for Identity Provider (IdP) services, authentication workflows, federation integrations, onboarding processes, and Zero Trust identity functions.

This is a fully remote position.


MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, experience engaging with engineers and subject matter experts, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible documentation for diverse audiences. This role supports documentation from conception to publication and ensures content remains consistent, current, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently gather technical information from Identity, Cloud, Cybersecurity, and ICAM SMEs to develop, organize, and write documentation including SOPs, TTPs, integration guides, architecture summaries, and process documentation.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation and content aligned with organizational standards, engineering best practices, and ICAM governance requirements.
  • Maintain documentation repositories and produce content for internal SharePoint portals, following established publishing processes.
  • Collaborate with IdP engineers, application teams, and program leadership to identify documentation tasks, prioritize work, and meet delivery timelines.
  • Evaluate existing ICAM documentation and propose improvements to structure, clarity, consistency, and usability.
  • Review and edit documents for grammar, accuracy, completeness, and overall quality.
  • Support broader ICAM portfolio documentation initiatives, including onboarding packages, modernization deliverables, and lifecycle documentation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Clearance at minimum. Interim Secret Clearances are not allowed.
  • Bachelors Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience creating technical documentation for IT, cybersecurity, IAM, or enterprise systems.
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to translate engineering concepts into clear documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and documentation governance discipline.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, architecture, and cybersecurity teams.

Desired Skills/Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI.
  • Technical knowledge of Azure, M365, or cloud‑based identity services.
  • Experience documenting identity, authentication, cyber, or enterprise IT systems.
  • Understanding of SAML, OAuth, OIDC, MFA, PKI, CAC workflows, and Zero Trust identity principles.
  • Experience producing executive‑level briefing materials and engineering review artifacts.


The likely salary range for this position is $85,093 - $103,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
