Job DescriptionAt Nokia, we are seeking talented and motivated senior/principal staff hardware power amplifier engineers to join our dynamic team. As a key member of the Radio Development R&D Team, you will be involved in the entire lifecycle of 5G/6G cellular base station development, from concept to final production. Your expertise will be instrumental in designing and developing RF/microwave circuits and power amplifiers, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards. With a focus on power amplifier design, you will leverage your knowledge of amplifier classes, matching networks, and design techniques to create innovative solutions. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies such as AI/ML, virtual design, and cloud computing, enabling faster time-to-market and enhanced product quality.
Responsibilities- Design and develop RF/microwave circuits and power amplifiers, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards.
- Implement different RF amplifier classes, architectures, and matching networks, utilizing advanced design techniques.
- Perform simulations and analysis using industry-leading tools such as ADS, ANSYS, Microwave Office, and HFSS.
- Test and troubleshoot RF components and amplifiers, optimizing performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, software, and mechanical engineers, to integrate power amplifiers into final RF radios.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies, including AI/ML, virtual design, automation, data analytics, and cloud computing.
- Interact with domestic and international teams, and travel up to 10% for project requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior and senior-level RF power amplifier designers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Ensure sustainable energy savings and environmental considerations in the design and development process.
Qualifications- BS in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on RF/microwave design and power amplifier engineering.
- Excellent theoretical and practical understanding of RF/microwave design, with expertise in power amplifier design.
- Extensive knowledge of high-power GaN device technology and Doherty Power Amplifiers.
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as Mentor Expedition or ADS layout, and RF/Microwave simulation tools (ADS, ANSYS, HFSS, Microwave Office).
- Hands-on experience testing and optimizing high-power RF amplifiers in a laboratory environment.
- Experience working with Nokia radio products is an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Previous industrial experience and an MS in Electrical Engineering are preferred.
- Basic knowledge of digital pre-distortion principles and a proven track record in successful product development programs are desirable.
