Head of Software Delivery

Reports to: AVP, Software Engineering

Overview of the role

The Head of Software Delivery will lead software execution across Portal and Customer Experience, Accessioning, Revenue Cycle Management and Salesforce, and Epic, Integrations and Business Development.

This leader owns delivery governance, planning, resource forecasting, production stability and execution across the operational software portfolio. The role partners closely with Product, Operations, Clinical, Commercial and Technology leaders to maintain delivery momentum while strengthening planning, accountability and engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Own software delivery across the operational software portfolio, from planning through release and production support.

• Establish consistent delivery governance, planning, status reporting and decision-making across teams.

• Partner with Product leaders to shape priorities, clarify outcomes and translate roadmaps into executable plans.

• Strengthen scope definition, estimates, dependency management, staffing plans and release readiness.

• Maintain an integrated view of commitments, capacity, risks, dependencies and resource needs.

• Improve delivery predictability, release discipline, productivity and transparency.

• Own production stability, incident response, corrective actions and follow-through across the portfolio.

• Balance new product delivery, operational support and necessary technical maintenance.

• Resolve cross-team dependencies and escalate decisions early when commitments are at risk.

• Coach technology leaders in planning, delivery management, performance management and stakeholder partnership.

• Lead workforce and capability planning across employees, contractors and distributed teams.

• Partner with architecture and security leaders to apply engineering, privacy and reliability standards.

• Communicate delivery status, risks, tradeoffs and decisions clearly to executives and business partners.

• Build a culture of ownership, collaboration, quality and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• 15 or more years of progressive technology and software delivery experience.

• Demonstrated success leading large delivery organizations through managers and directors.

• Experience managing distributed teams, contractors and multiple concurrent product portfolios.

• Experience in healthcare, diagnostics or another regulated environment.

• Strong command of delivery planning, capacity forecasting, estimation, dependency management and production support.

• Proven ability to improve delivery predictability, release quality, incident response and backlog execution.

• Ability to partner effectively with Product, Operations and executive stakeholders.

• Clear executive communication, sound judgment and strong organizational leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in diagnostics, genomic testing or laboratory operations.

• Experience leading operational platforms, customer-facing applications and enterprise integrations.

• Experience modernizing legacy technology while maintaining business continuity.

• Experience with offshore or globally distributed delivery models.

• Working knowledge of privacy, security and audit expectations for sensitive healthcare data.
