About the RoleWe are hiring a Head of Engineering to lead and grow our engineering team. You will report directly to the CEO and be a core part of the leadership team.
You will own the engineering org, hire the team that scales it, and work closely with the company leadership as we continue to build the product that powers our business. You will still stay close to the code and the product, but your primary job is building and running a team that builds and maintains our product.
This role is based in San Francisco, in office 3 days per week. Our engineers are distributed, so you will be leading a remote team from a hybrid seat. We want you here for the founder, product, sales, and customer success conversations that happen in person.
ResponsibilitiesAlign Engineering with the Business- Work closely with the founder, product managers, customer success, and sales teams to ensure that the engineering team and their work are well-aligned with the rest of the company.
- Keep the product roadmap and engineering priorities aligned. Ensure that we have a healthy balance between maintaining the functionality and performance of the existing product while shipping new features.
Build and Lead the Team- Recruit, interview, and screen candidates for the engineering team. We'll rely on you to grow the team with the right people.
- Manage and grow the engineering team. Set expectations, hold one-on-ones, and take responsibility for enabling a high-performing group of engineers to do their best work.
- Set the engineering culture. You'll work with the team to refine how we work, review code, test for quality, and ship changes. We're looking for someone who can advocate for and support agile software practices that help the team work as efficiently and happily as possible.
Own Reliability and Customer Trust- Own uptime, performance, on-call, and incident response, with the monitoring and alerting to support it.
- Handle the security and compliance requirements our larger hotel and restaurant group customers ask for.
Who You Are- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
- You have scaled both a product and a team through a growth phase, and you know which problems show up at 4 engineers versus 15.
- Strong technical background in modern web development, deep enough to make architecture calls and review any pull request on the team.
- You are comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity. You define the process rather than waiting for one.
Bonus Points- Have shipped LLM-powered features to real users at scale and dealt with what happens when they get it wrong.
- Have built B2B SaaS: CRMs, ATSs, or all-in-one operational tools.
- Have shipped Ruby on Rails in production.

- Flexible PTO & 401(k)
- Daily lunches when onsite
- Unlimited book budget
