Job Description:

This role is responsible to support all aspects of our Governance Risk and Compliance ( GRC) function for Digital Business Technology Services ( global IT), with a focus on support and monitoring of our robust internal control repository, issue identification and remediation monitoring, all requiring extensive stakeholder interactions.

Deliverables include timely metrics & reporting, from operational dashboards to Senior Management content, and a strong focus on the continual improvement of an effective process to ensure risks and compliance gaps are tracked and closed on target as planned.

What will you do:
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate and assess the effectiveness of existing control procedures and identify potential risks and deficiencies.
  • Provide support to the planning, analysis, development and roll out of a wide range of DBTS & IT risk and compliance strategies, policies, objectives, awareness, training, and programs to provide effective governance.
  • Execute monitoring activities, including detailed analysis of data, and review of plans to close DBTS issues and related action plans; ensure status reporting, escalation and follow up as required and consolidated management reporting for DBTS, Business Group and Corporate requirements.
  • Assist with preparation of stakeholder and senior management communications
  • Support QA initiatives to promote compliance awareness, testing, and monitoring and control processes by which compliance requirements are communicated and compliance risks are identified and managed
  • Support DBTS Risk and Compliance Officer in all of their responsibilities


What you need to succeed:
  • A post secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology, Business Administration or equivalent work experience
  • Relevant IT / best practice certifications ( ITIL, Risk, GRC, Audit, Privacy etc.) an asset
  • CISA designation preferred
  • Working experience of SOC / SOX lifecycle and controls
  • Familiarity with IT controls and frameworks such as COBIT
  • Familiarity with Sun Life Financial Risk Management Framework and Policy Framework an asset


Preferred skills:
  • Experience in support of a fast-paced complex environment, GRC or a similar discipline, preferably in the financial services industry
  • Experience with the design and delivery of control governance processes including sound monitoring and testing practices
  • Effective analytical capabilities and strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational, relationship building and influencing skills and experience at supporting change and helping others through the process.
  • Familiarity with Sun Life Financial Risk Management Framework and risk management polices an asset
  • Hands on audit, governance and risk management and integrated practice experience

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.

Salary Range:
65,000/65 000 - 105,000/105 000
