Full Job Description
Description

The Lauder Institute and the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) at the University of Pennsylvania invite applications for a full-time appointment as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer and Faculty Director, International Studies. This position combines graduate-level teaching with year-round academic leadership and administrative responsibilities for the core curriculum of the Masters of Arts (MA) degree in international studies.

The Faculty Director will join the senior leadership team at the Institute and teach international studies (INTS) courses that bring the analytical rigor of the School of Arts and Sciences to contemporary global business questions through interdisciplinary perspectives such as comparative politics, political economy, economic history, and regional studies. The successful candidate will be an intellectually engaged scholar and educator whose research and teaching illuminate the intersection of global business, politics, economics, culture, and society. In addition to teaching, the Faculty Director will serve as the principal academic and administrative leader of the international studies core curriculum, overseeing its development, delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement. Working closely with Institute leadership and faculty, the Faculty Director will ensure coherence across coursework, regional programming, experiential learning opportunities, and the master's thesis, while helping to develop curricular innovations that reflect Lauder's distinctive integration of language training, cultural fluency, and business education.

Appointment as a full-time Lecturer is for a period of one year with possibility of renewal for up to two additional years contingent on satisfactory performance review and Dean's approval, and a fourth year, pending Provost's approval. Consideration for appointment as a Senior Lecturer requires four years of service as a full-time Lecturer at Penn or current status as a Penn Senior Lecturer, as well as the standard processes and approvals for appointment in a receptive home department within the School of Arts and Sciences. Appointment as Senior Lecturer is for a four-year term, with renewal contingent upon satisfactory performance reviews and University approval. The position combines an MA teaching load based on the teaching needs of the Institute with year-round academic leadership and administrative responsibilities for the Institute's international studies curriculum and programming. The salary is competitive.
