You will join a team that values accountability, collaboration, and quality execution from project start through closeout.

Role Overview

Under general direction, you will act as the on-site project leader for assigned customers, managing Fire projects up to $250k Parts & Smarts. You will coordinate installation, commissioning, closeout, warranty execution, and project financial performance while maintaining a strong balance between customer satisfaction, scope control, and profitability.

What you'll do
  • Plan, execute, and complete assigned projects with customers while coordinating installation, project closeout, and warranty activities.
  • Own the financial results of projects, including costs, billings, collections, and gross margin performance.
  • Actively pursue and sell change orders by evaluating scope impacts from client bulletins, field directives, and schedule changes.
  • Coordinate communication with customer representatives across Quality Assurance, Engineering, Validation, and related departments throughout the project.
  • Manage or support material selection, ordering, delivery schedules, vendor pricing, subcontractor bids, and subcontractor billing and payment processes.
  • Provide work direction to subcontractors, technicians, designers, and administration as needed.
  • Support jobsite coordination and ensure installation follows Johnson Controls literature and project requirements.
  • Manage loading, device verification, commissioning, and validation of system controllers where required.
  • Validate complete system functionality, troubleshoot issues with subcontractors and other trades, and help deliver accurate as-built and commissioning documentation.
  • Prepare project status updates and support monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.
  • Maintain long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors while attending job progress meetings as required.
  • Ensure work is performed in line with local, Provincial, and Federal legal requirements and with the highest standards of ethics and safety.

How you'll do it
  • Stay close to the work by interpreting regulatory requirements early and confirming that project deliverables meet both code and customer expectations.
  • Own outcomes with accountability by tracking scope, budget, billings, collections, and change orders with discipline from start to finish.
  • Communicate clearly and candidly with customers and internal teams when technical or business issues arise, so decisions can be made quickly.
  • Use JCI standard tools and processes whenever possible to keep execution consistent, support documentation quality, and reduce rework.
  • Collaborate as one team by coordinating closely with subcontractors, technicians, designers, administration, and customer stakeholders across every phase of the project.
  • Improve every day by reviewing documentation carefully, resolving commissioning issues promptly, and closing gaps in as-builts, manuals, and warranty materials.
  • Put safety first by ensuring Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards at the jobsite.

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction, low voltage, mechanical, electronics, or another related industry.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical material to a non-technical audience.
  • Strong personal computer skills in MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project, as well as Adobe Writer, Visio, and the MS Windows environment.
  • Ability to manage project tasks, documentation, and customer communication with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work with project financial information, including costs, billings, collections, and forecast updates.

Preferred
  • Experience related to Mechanical Retrofits, HVAC controls, BAS installation, Fire Installation, Security Systems Installation, or Master System Integration Installation.
  • Experience interpreting and managing fire code requirements, including NFPA, for Fire-related roles.
  • Working toward or completion of a 2-year business or construction management degree, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
