Field Engineer - Structured Cabling

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Field Engineer in our Structured Cabling group that will be responsible for participating in the active management of construction project by problem solving, performing various processes and applying basic construction management or engineering techniques and analyses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide pre-construction support
  • Manage submittal and RFI processes for specific definable features of work (DFW), utilizing PMA and other programs completely to closure.
  • Evaluate and distribute project design and engineering documents
  • Prepare team for site mobilization and research living arrangements
  • Prepare turnover binder templates and assist with pre-mobilization kickoff meetings
  • Arrange short form subcontracts with local entities (power, trailers, housing)
  • Draft subcontracts and purchase agreements
  • Utilize Best Practice Database for SWIs, quality documents, prep meetings
  • Manage QA/QC as per Project Quality Plan and oversee inventory process
  • Coordinate DFW prep meetings, inspections, and punch list final inspections


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior experience on construction job sites preferred
  • Current driver's license
  • Ability to independently apply principles and theories of construction management or engineering
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions and documents (e.g., blueprints, design documents)
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles (scheduling, estimating)
  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet
  • Ability to learn and use construction management software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships and transfer information between different levels of workers
  • Ability to multitask
  • Active listening skills and effective communication
  • Ability to travel up to 100%

The base pay range for this role is $78,800- $98,500. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
