Full Job Description
This role will serve as Principal Engineer for the Enterprise responsible for but not limited to designing or working with third parties to design facility related construction plans, production line/equipment installations, compliance and safety improvements and the installations. At times this person may also serve as a project manager for certain key projects. Additionally, this role will be responsible for managing the capital projects strategic plan each year and then tracking and reporting progress against the approved capital plan. This person will coordinate with the plants and other responsible parties to ensure timely submission for approval and execution of approved projects within proposed budgets. This role will also be responsible for assisting plants in relocation of assets as needed and thew Fixed Assets Team to properly record these transactions maintaining accurate fixed asset inventories.

What you'll do:

Primary Responsibility: Principal Engineer - design or lead third party efforts in the design of facilities related construction, plant manufacturing processes/equipment, safety/compliance related efforts and at time serve a Project Manager for certain strategic initiatives.

Second Responsibility: Capital Management Oversight - work with the business unit and plant representatives to develop annually the strategic capital plan. Maintain the tracking and reporting system to provide oversight on timely AAA submissions, project executions to plan and frequency reporting to leadership. In addition, this person will assist plants as needed with selecting and managing third party support for services and equipment, equipment specifications and procurement.

May also assist plants in:
Serving as liaison for Zurich / Insurance related matters such as Site/Equipment inspections coordination, Site Risk assessments and RIA close outs and follow up with Zurich and Site 360 assessments in keeping with the Capital management role.
Recommend and support implementation of standardized platform for Enterprise Asset Management and Maintenance.
Recommend and document maintenance process standards and intervals and deploy via chosen EAM system.
Provide maintenance operations oversight and frequency systems validation with site level and upwards reporting.
Provide guidance and recommendations to in-house or 3rd party maintenance teams for required activities and specialized equipment issues.

What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering is required.
  • 8+ years' combined experience in manufacturing engineering / facilities maintenance management leading teams in a heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with plant maintenance management is a strong plus. Experience in a multi - facility environment is a plus.
  • Practical hands-on experience in facility design engineering in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably heavy fabrication.
  • Experience with design and construction of large industrial steel buildings, elevated work platforms, production equipment installations etc. required.
  • Demonstrated track record of dedication to safety performance, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in large project management.
  • Technical knowledge of facility and equipment maintenance such as hydraulics & presses, electronics and PLC systems, blast and fabrication equipment, painting equipment, compressed air systems, compressed gasses systems, heat treatment equipment, electrical distribution systems,
  • Knowledgeable in welding processes and equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Proficiency in using common maintenance software.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving and decision-making
