What you'll be doing

As Executive Director, Prime Services, you will drive the strategy, delivery, and support of technology solutions across Prime Brokerage, Risk, Margin, Synthetic Prime Brokerage, and related business functions. You’ll lead multidisciplinary teams—including development, architecture, and business analyst leadership—to ensure business needs are translated into scalable, compliant, and high-performing solutions. Your role bridges front-to-back business functions, partnering closely with operations, risk, finance, product, and technology stakeholders. You’ll build a strong business function support model led by high-performing Business Analysts, ensuring that business functions are effectively supported across the full operating model. Your leadership will focus on aligning technology initiatives with business priorities, modernizing platforms, and promoting operational excellence and continuous improvement throughout Prime Services.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You will have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement. Details on your work arrangement will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How you'll succeed

  • Strategic Leadership - Lead the Prime Services technology function with accountability for delivery, platform stability, modernization, and business alignment. Define and execute the technology roadmap supporting Prime Brokerage, Synthetic PB, Stock Loan, Margin Financing, Risk, and client reporting capabilities. Partner with business heads and senior stakeholders to align technology initiatives with growth, regulatory, control, and client service priorities. Oversee budgeting, resource planning, vendor strategy, and execution governance for major initiatives.

  • Business Analyst Leadership and Business Function Support - Lead and develop a team of Business Analysts responsible for supporting core Prime Services business functions across trading, operations, margin, risk, finance, settlement, and client servicing. Establish the BA organization as the key interface between business users and technology teams, ensuring clear translation of business requirements into functional specifications, delivery plans, and operational outcomes. Ensure the BA team documents business workflows, operating models, controls, dependencies, and target-state process improvements across Prime Services. Promote a service-oriented BA model where analysts act as trusted advisors to business stakeholders rather than only requirements gatherers. Lead BA participation in governance forums, prioritization discussions, change control, and stakeholder communications. Mentor and coach BA leads to strengthen domain expertise in Prime Brokerage, margin, synthetic products, risk, and operational support.

  • Technology Delivery and Platform Management - Oversee the design, implementation, and enhancement of Prime Services applications, including risk and margin platforms, synthetic PB solutions, reporting frameworks, and integrations with internal and external systems. Provide project oversight, architectural review, and quality assurance across blueprint, design, development, testing, and deployment phases. Lead automation initiatives for trade capture, client allocations, affirmations, reporting delivery, reconciliations, and settlements. Ensure effective integration of platforms with trade booking, regulatory, market data, and downstream operational systems. Support scalable data flows and analytics capabilities across data management, data governance, ETL, reporting, and business intelligence.

  • Risk, Margin, and Regulatory Oversight - Provide leadership in solutions supporting house margin methodologies, stress-based margin, PFE, concentration risk, liquidity risk, and cross-product margining. Ensure platforms support regulatory and internal policy requirements, including reporting, controls, auditability, and transparency. Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Control functions on regulatory change initiatives and remediation programs. Oversee data quality, reconciliations, and control processes across critical applications and reports.

  • Stakeholder and Operational Management - Act as senior point of contact for business stakeholders across Prime Services, Global Markets, Risk, Operations, Finance, and Technology. Ensure strong production support and business continuity practices, including incident management, root cause analysis, service improvement, and disaster recovery readiness. Drive prioritization of enhancements based on business value, control requirements, client needs, and operational efficiency. Build strong partnerships with vendors and third-party providers where applicable.

  • People Leadership - Lead, develop, and inspire global teams of Business Analysts, developers, and technology managers. Recruit top talent and create a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and delivery excellence. Set clear objectives and performance expectations for team leads across BA and engineering functions. Provide coaching and succession planning for critical leadership roles.

Who you are

  • You’re a strategic leader. You drive technology strategy, delivery, and support across Prime Brokerage, Risk, Margin, Synthetic Prime Brokerage, and related business functions. You build a strong business function support framework in which BAs provide day-to-day support for trade lifecycle and booking workflows, client onboarding and account configuration, margin calculations and margin call workflows, financing and securities lending processes, risk exposure and limit monitoring, regulatory and management reporting, reconciliations, controls, and exception handling. You ensure BAs proactively engage business users to identify process pain points, control gaps, data quality issues, and opportunities for automation. Oversee BA ownership of requirement gathering, process mapping, impact assessments, user story development, functional testing coordination, and post-implementation support. Drive BAs to support business users during production incidents, operational queries, new product rollouts, regulatory changes, and platform enhancements.

  • You bridge business and technology. You partner closely with operations, risk, finance, product, and technology stakeholders to ensure business needs are translated into scalable, compliant, and high-performing solutions.

  • You build strong teams. You lead multidisciplinary teams—including development, architecture, and business analyst leadership—and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and delivery excellence.

  • You champion business function support. You empower Business Analysts to act as trusted advisors, proactively support business users, and drive process optimization, automation, and operational improvement.

  • You ensure operational excellence. You oversee production support, business continuity, incident management, root cause analysis, and service improvement practices.
