Job Summary

The Engineering Supervisor (ES) is responsible for providing overall leadership and direction for the engineering team in the Milledgeville HQ

Job Responsibilities

Leadership expectations and responsibilities include exhibiting behaviors in alignment with the Southern Company "Our Values", Safety First, Unquestionable Trust, Superior Performance and Total Commitment. The ES will lead the engineering team in a Safety Excellence environment with a focus on learning as well as implementation of the STEP observation tools. The ES will have accountability to ensure a culture within the team that is inclusive, builds trust and is continuously improving. This includes ownership of our Diversity and Inclusion efforts. Development of the team members as well as communications within the team are key responsibilities for the ES. The ES will provide leadership and guidance for planning, engineering, design, and construction of all activities in the area and will help monitor and guide area-wide Distribution functional budgets, compliance, and system maintenance to ensure reliability. This includes investigating extended or significant outages as well as timely addressing customer issues that arise. The ES will provide performance management as well as leadership and guidance in dealing with customer issues (internal and external). This position will work closely with the other functional departments in the area to deliver best in class, customer value, reliability and cost as well as supporting external community activities. The ES will also serve as the SERP Operations Director and will be required to participate in SERP events across the Southern System and events off system as required.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field is preferred

Experience
  • Proven leadership abilities and commitment to Safety
  • Excellence. Proven record of dealing effectively with customers
  • Influencer and champion for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion through words and actions


  • A minimum of 5 years Power Delivery experience preferred Cross-functional, cross-company experience is a plus
  • Experience managing capital and O&M budgets is a plus
  • Experience with storm response and planning is preferred

Other Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Travel is sometimes required.
  • Must live within a commutable distance of Macon or be willing to relocate.


This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:
  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience as a licensed driver (Must hold a valid driver's license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver's license).
  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
