This is not a permanent appointment. Job Description

We are recruiting for two (2) Engineering Associate positions: one specializing in Electrical Revit and the other in Structural Revit.

Under general supervision, the Engineering Associate I performs difficult technical engineering work in the preparation of Electrical/Structural 3D design models, drawings and other graphical output using Computer-aided Design (CAD) or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software systems such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit and/or Autodesk Navisworks, and working accurately and in compliance with CAD/BIM standards, policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:
  1. Prepares Electrical/Structural 3D design models, drawings and other graphical outputs using systems such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and Autodesk Naviswork, in compliance with appropriate standards, policies and procedures.
  2. Checks and reviews engineering documents and drafting work of other staff for accuracy, engineering sufficiency, and conformance to specifications and standards.
  3. Conducts site investigations with engineers of existing facilities to determine and verify site layout.
  4. Make preliminary checks and reviews of engineering documents, 3D design models and drawings for accuracy, engineering sufficiency, and conformance to specifications and standards.
  5. Identifies, develops, and enforces CAD and/or BIM drafting procedures and standards.
  6. Assist in processing and/or reviewing submittals from contractors, utilities and others.
  7. Indexes, reproduces and maintains engineering documents stored in databases or spreadsheets in hard copy form.
  8. Apply mathematical and other engineering computations as required in the course of performing work.
  9. Coordinate with drafters from other disciplines to maintain project drafting consistency.
  10. Responds orally and in written form to inquiries, and requests for information from contractors, and other agencies.
  11. Performs design work using engineering knowledge and appropriate software programs.
  12. May drive a vehicle to and from work sites.

Class 5364 performs other related duties as required.

Nature of the work: The current work schedule requires four days per week in the office at 525 Golden Gate Avenue, 11th Floor, San Francisco, CA, and one day per week working remotely.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

Four (4) years of verified civil (including structural /or transportation), or electrical, or mechanical technical engineering drafting experience using CAD or BIM systems to prepare engineering drawings and other engineering graphic material, at least two (2) years of which must have been in a position with duties comparable to those of Class 5362 Engineering Assistant.

License and Certification: Possession of a valid California driver license.

Substitution:

Additional education with major coursework in Computer Aided Design and Drafting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). Thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units equal one (1) year; OR

Possession of a current and valid Autodesk Certified Professional & Expert certificate may be substituted for the two (2) of the four (4) years of verified technical engineering drafting experience above.

Special Condition:48 months of Revit software experience.

One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2000 hours. (2000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week.) Any overtime hours that you work above forty (40) hours per week are not included in the calculation to determine full-time employment.
