The Impact You'll Make

Are you passionate about helping customers develop world-class machine steering systems? Do you enjoy combining hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, and application engineering expertise to solve complex technical challenges? If so, join Danfoss Power Solutions as a Product Application Engineer and help our customers bring innovative machines to market.

This position is based near one of Danfoss' facilities in Ames, Iowa, or Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. You will join our global Product Application Engineering team within the Orbital & Gears Solutions business. Our team members are located across the United States, Denmark, and India, collaborating globally to support customers and our sales organization in the application of Danfoss steering and electro-hydraulic steering solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Partner with customers to develop innovative steering solutions for off-highway machines.
  • Test, validate, and optimize steering systems at our Application Development Center to ensure they meet customer and application requirements.
  • Work closely with sales, product management, and engineering teams to develop customer-specific solutions.
  • Translate customer requirements into technical specifications and product recommendations.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer development process.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural, Mechatronics, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Practical experience in hydraulics, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or related technical fields.
  • 4+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred. Recent graduates with strong internship or co-op experience in hydraulics, machinery, or vehicle systems are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in construction and agricultural machinery is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Additional language skills are considered an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Capable of engaging in hands-on work that demands focus and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze technical problems and develop practical customer-focused solutions.
  • Self-motivated learner with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of SAP, Teamcenter, NX & AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 30 days per year).
