Team Summary
GAF Energy is transforming the rooftop solar industry to generate “Energy from Every Roof”. Essential Duties

  • Hands-on Development: Be the person who envisions, designs, and prototypes solar laminates/shingles in the lab.

  • Testing Guru: Make sure products hit initial performance goals and work with the reliability team for rigorous lab and field testing (PV and roofing standards are your friends!).

  • Innovate: Develop new materials and designs with suppliers/collaborators. Use software (optical, electrical, thermal) to speed up the design process.

  • Problem Solver: Quickly figure out complex issues and solve problems fast. Critical thinking for the win!

  • Lead a Little: Be a go-to mentor, expert on solar panel laminate development, deployment and manufacturing.

  • Team Player: Collaborate with everyone at GAF Energy to plan, develop, and launch new solar products.

  • Communicate: Present your awesome concepts and results to executives and stakeholders regularly.


Qualifications Required

  • Master’s degree Physics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering required

  • Doctoral Degree (Ph.D.) Physics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering preferred

  • 5+ Years in R&D in a lab setting

  • Minimum of 5 years doing solar module R&D, design and testing

  • Deep knowledge of solar module electrical circuits and material integration for best PV generation and 25+ year reliability.

  • Must understand key PV failure modes, materials, and testing best practices (like UL/IEC certification).

  • Skills: Hands-on problem solver, great communicator, energetic, forward-thinking, and good at balancing priorities.

  • Proof: A proven track record of innovation (patents!), problem-solving, and delivering technical solutions on time.

  • Specs: Experience defining engineering specs for processes, testing, and quality control for high-volume production.

  • Flexibility: Ready to spend lots of time in the lab, pilot, and manufacturing environments.


Travel Requirements: 20% Travel in US and globally

Base salary and/or rate of pay ranges listed are exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Individual compensation offers will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, relevant candidate experience and skill, education, and/or qualifications.

Base Salary Range: $108,000-$148,500
