Full Job Description
As a Starbucks Engineer II on the Customer Experience Engineering team, you will . . . Contribute to Starbucks success by enabling the reliable delivery and support of Starbucks mobile applications across international and domestic markets, with a primary focus on international mobile release support. This role serves as a key technical partner for international mobile teams, supporting application build, staging, release, platform access, credentials, and the systems required to deliver iOS and Android applications. The position coordinates closely with international market teams and mobile development partners to support release readiness, resolve build and deployment issues, maintain market-specific release information, and ensure consistent, well-documented release processes. The role also participates in the domestic mobile release rotation, sharing responsibility for staging and releasing Starbucks iOS and Android applications in the Apple App Store and Google Play. Key Responsibilities
  • Mobile Release & International Market Support
  • Serves as a primary technical resource for international mobile application release and support activities across iOS and Android.
  • Partners with international market and development teams to coordinate release readiness, deployment, and production release activities.
  • Participates in the domestic mobile release rotation, staging and releasing iOS and Android applications through Apple App Store Connect/TestFlight and Google Play.
  • Maintains market-specific application, release, and configuration information required to support Starbucks mobile applications across international markets.
  • Creates and coordinates Change Requests and supporting documentation required for international mobile releases.
  • Mobile Platform & Credential Administration
  • Creates and maintains Apple distribution certificates, Apple Pay certificates, provisioning profiles, and related application credentials.
  • Administers Google Pay and Wallet capabilities and associated mobile payment configurations, and creates and maintains Google API keys and related application integrations.
  • Provides access to Mobile Build & Release-owned platforms and services in accordance with Starbucks security and access-management requirements.
  • Supports shared mobile platform configuration and credentials used by domestic and international applications.
  • Build Engineering & Developer Enablement
  • Creates and maintains repositories in GitHub Enterprise and configures build workflows and pipelines for new mobile applications, including
  • Bitrise-based build automation.
  • Provides build and release engineering support to development teams, troubleshooting pipeline, signing, configuration, credential, and deployment issues while helping improve build reliability and release readiness.
  • Platform Stewardship & Operational Support
  • Supports mobile release engineering platforms and integrations including App Store Connect, Apple Developer Portal, Google Play Console,
  • Google Cloud, Google Pay & Wallet, Bitrise, Jenkins, GitHub Enterprise, Firebase, SonarQube, and related enterprise systems.
  • Diagnoses and resolves build, release, access, configuration, and platform issues and identifies sustainable solutions for recurring problems.
  • Maintains international support portals, knowledge repositories, release documentation, and operational procedures, and identifies opportunities to standardize and improve international release processes while accommodating market-specific requirements.
  • Leadership
  • Provides technical ownership and coordination for international mobile release activities, helping teams navigate release requirements, dependencies, and technical issues.
  • Builds effective working relationships with international market teams, mobile developers, QA, Security, Infrastructure, and other technology stakeholders.
  • Promotes consistent practices across markets through documentation, knowledge sharing, reusable processes, and technical guidance.
We'd love to hear from people with:
  • 2-4 years of professional industry experience supporting mobile application build, release, deployment, or testing.
  • Experience supporting iOS and/or Android application delivery using Apple App Store Connect/TestFlight, Apple Developer Portal, or Google Play Console.
  • Experience supporting distributed or international development teams and coordinating technical activities across multiple markets, teams, or time zones.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems and mobile build automation such as Bitrise, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or comparable technologies.
  • Understanding of mobile application signing, certificates, provisioning profiles, API credentials, and application configuration, with experience troubleshooting build and release issues in partnership with software development teams.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to balance multiple concurrent releases and priorities and make sound technical decisions.
