Summary:

The Engineer II - eCommerce & Portal Team is responsible for developing, enhancing, testing, and supporting digital applications that enable eCommerce and portal experiences for customers, partners, and internal users. This role contributes to the delivery of scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions across front-end and back-end components, working as part of a cross-functional Agile team.

The Engineer II partners with senior engineers, tech leads, product managers, QA, UX designers, and DevOps teams to implement features, resolve defects, and improve platform performance. This position is well-suited for a software engineer with solid development experience who is growing in technical depth and taking on increasing ownership of application components and delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development
  • Design, develop, test, and support features for eCommerce and portal applications.
  • Contribute to front-end, back-end, API, and integration development based on team needs and technical direction.
  • Implement user stories, enhancements, and bug fixes in alignment with business requirements and engineering standards.
  • Build reusable, maintainable, and efficient code across digital application components.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality.


eCommerce and Portal Platform Support
  • Support core platform capabilities such as:
    • Product search and browse
    • Account registration and login
    • Customer and partner self-service features
    • Shopping cart and checkout
    • Order tracking and history
    • Portal navigation and content access
    • Notifications and communication workflows
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, integration issues, and performance problems.
  • Assist with production support, root cause analysis, and issue remediation.


Engineering Practices and Quality
  • Follow established software development standards, secure coding practices, and team processes.
  • Write and maintain unit tests, integration tests, and other automated test assets as appropriate.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, release readiness, and deployment validation activities.
  • Help improve application performance, reliability, maintainability, and observability.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, design notes, and support materials.


Collaboration and Teamwork
  • Work closely with product managers, business analysts, designers, QA, and other engineers to refine and deliver solutions.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Seek guidance from senior team members while steadily increasing independent ownership of assigned work.
  • Communicate progress, blockers, and risks in a timely and professional manner.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and learning-oriented team culture.


Integration and Technical Environment
  • Develop and maintain integrations with enterprise and third-party systems such as:
    • Identity and access management platforms
    • Payment providers
    • ERP or order systems
    • CRM platforms
    • Content management systems
    • Product information systems
  • Support API-based communication and data exchange across digital platforms.
  • Work within modern engineering environments using source control, issue tracking, and automated build/deployment tools.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Typically 2+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience building or supporting web applications, APIs, or digital platforms.
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as:
    • JavaScript / TypeScript
    • HTML5
    • CSS3
    • React, Angular, or Vue
  • Working knowledge of back-end technologies such as:
    • Java
    • C#
    • Node.js
    • Python
  • Experience with RESTful APIs and basic integration concepts.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Experience using version control systems, testing frameworks, and Agile development practices.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle concepts, debugging, and code quality practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with eCommerce, portal applications, or other customer-facing digital solutions.
  • Familiarity with platforms such as:
    • Adobe Commerce / Magento
    • Salesforce Commerce Cloud
    • Shopify
    • Adobe Experience Manager
    • Sitecore
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and application monitoring tools.
  • Experience working with APIs, authentication methods, and secure development concepts.
  • Exposure to regulated industries such as healthcare, life sciences, or distribution.
