Full Job Description
Who You Are

The Corporate EHS&S Program Manager is a high-level leader responsible for working cross-functionally to steward the strategic direction, implementation, and health of Sila's company-wide Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability programs. Operating at the corporate level, this role does not manage day-to-day site operations; instead, you will architect the overarching EHS&S Management Systems, governance models, and compliance frameworks that enable Sila to safely develop and scale its technology across R&D and high-volume manufacturing.

As a master cross-functional orchestrator and executive communicator, you will lead through influence, partnering with EHS&S site managers, R&D, engineering, and operations to embed a rigorous culture of safety, health, and environmental stewardship into our commercial execution.
Responsibilities and Duties
  • Enterprise EHS&S Governance: Architect, implement, and continuously improve corporate EHS&S Management Systems. Partner with site teams to define the global standards, policies, and continuous improvement frameworks (e.g., LOTO, Hazard Recognition, Compliance), and ensure they are executed across all sites.
  • Strategic Sequencing & Scale-Up: Partner with Operations and R&D to sequence and de-risk EHS&S workstreams required for technology transfer and manufacturing scale-up. Identify and bridge cross-functional gaps before they impact commercial timelines.
  • Metrics & Single Source of Truth: Design and maintain centralized enterprise databases, KPIs, and governance tools to ensure EHS&S metrics, compliance data, and goals are synchronized across the organization.
  • Executive Communication & Risk Management: Act as the central point of accountability for enterprise EHS&S program health. Distill complex technical and regulatory risks into crisp briefings for executive leadership, proactively facilitating mitigation strategies for cross-program roadblocks.
  • Cross-Functional Decision Facilitation: Lead steering committees composed of EHS&S site leads and other personnel to drive alignment on high-stakes EHS investments, corporate roadmaps, and risk prioritization.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements
  • Systems Architect: Proven ability to design and manage matrixed EHS&S programs, ensuring corporate frameworks seamlessly support site-level realities without duplicating effort.
  • Strategic Influence: Expert at driving alignment between executive leadership and technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). Adept at balancing technical risk with commercial business objectives.
  • Technical Translation: Ability to translate complex environmental regulations, technical engineering data, and occupational health risks into clear, actionable business insights.
  • Ambiguity Management: Highly comfortable steering critical safety and sustainability programs forward during rapid company scale-up and evolving regulatory landscapes.
  • Industry Experience: 10+ years of professional experience building and scaling corporate EHS&S programs within heavy tech, chemicals, automotive, or advanced manufacturing industries.
  • Scale-Up Expertise: Minimum 5 years leading large-scale technical programs, with demonstrated experience supporting technology transfer from R&D into high-volume commercial manufacturing environments.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in EHS, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering/technical discipline. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
  • Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
Location: Onsite in Alameda CA 5 days per week with typical hours of 9am-6pm. Approximate travel: 25% to Moses Lake, WA location. Consideration for Moses Lake location as primary with compensation based on region.

The starting base pay for this role is between $159,000 and $201,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila's competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, and equity. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
