Overview

The District Manager (DM) is a strategic field leadership role responsible for overseeing the performance, operations, and customer experience across 11-18 stores within a designated district. As a natural teacher and coach, the DM collaborates closely with Store Managers, regional leadership, and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences while achieving company goals and key performance indicators (KPIs). Serving as a functional expert, the DM provides guidance on all aspects of store operations, ensuring consistent execution of company strategies and fostering a high-performance culture focused on talent development, associate engagement, and operational excellence.
This role requires collaboration and expertise in recruiting, hiring, training, merchandising, customer service, and technology optimization. By leveraging business acumen and data-driven insights, the DM adapts strategies to drive results, maintain consistency, and support the brand's enterprise vision. The ultimate goal is to lead and empower teams to deliver outstanding in-store experience while ensuring accountability, collaboration, and alignment with company objectives.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Leadership, Coaching & Development
• Lead, coach, and develop Store Managers and store teams to deliver consistently strong in store customer experience.
• Model, teach, and reinforce selling behaviors, leadership expectations, and company values.
• Support District Managers by stepping into temporary coverage assignments during transitions, vacancies, or performance opportunities.
• Deliver clear, actionable feedback and development plans that build leadership capability at all levels.

Customer Experience & Brand Execution
• Ensure consistent execution of company standards in customer service, visual merchandising, and store operations.
• Partner with Store Managers to create welcoming, customer first environments that drive loyalty and repeat business.
• Reinforce brand and service standards across all supported locations.

Operational Excellence
• Execute and support all aspects of store and district operations, including recruiting, hiring, training, labor management, and compliance.
• Review and analyze performance metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across sales, conversion, shrink, and payroll.
• Develop and execute action plans that improve operational and financial performance.

Change Leadership & Resourcefulness
• Demonstrate effective resourcefulness and the ability to manage and lead through change.
• Navigate ambiguity and shifting business needs across different markets and assignments.
• Proactively provide insights, suggestions, and feedback to District and Regional leadership.
• Actively invite and apply feedback to enhance performance and support continuous self development.

Cross Functional Partnership
• Build strong partnerships with the Regional Sales Director, and cross functional support teams including HR, Talent Acquisition, and Operations.
• Serve as a connector between stores and regional leadership to ensure clear communication and aligned execution of company initiatives.

Qualifications

Required
• Minimum of 7 years of retail experience, with progressive responsibility and demonstrated business impact.
• At least 3 years of Store Manager experience, with proven success leading teams, driving sales performance, and executing company standards.
• Demonstrated internal leadership capability observed and validated by direct supervisor and business partners.
• Proven ability to coach, develop, and influence leaders and teams.
• High learning agility, self awareness, and openness to feedback.
• Strong adaptability and effectiveness in fast paced, change driven environments.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively and relocate for future District Manager opportunities.

Preferred
• Experience supporting or influencing multiple store locations.
• Demonstrated readiness for upward field leadership progression within the next 18 months.
• Experience partnering cross functionally to execute enterprise initiatives.
