The Role

The Director, Thought Leadership will develop and promote insightful, forward-thinking content that enhances our brand reputation and drives engagement. The role will be responsible for delivering on multi-channel thought leadership initiatives tied to the Bank's strategic priorities including industry trends, the North American economy, geopolitics and trade, technology and innovation, social impact and sustainability, and human capital. The ideal candidate will have strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and will have a passion and interest in key policy, industry and market trend issues, with a view to the role the banking sector plays in driving prosperity.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will be involved in:

  • Leads execution of strategic thought leadership initiatives in support of senior leaders across the Bank, including ideation, forward-looking planning, rollout of projects and management of the day-to-day calendar.
  • Ensures relevant input from key stakeholders across functions and business lines at all levels.
  • Builds and manages partnerships and engagement with think tanks, industry groups and experts and academic institutions to develop multi-channel strategies.
  • Coordinates support on key priorities for the year and ahead and liaising with groups responsible for priorities to receive consistent and frequent updates on progress being made.
  • Prepares in-depth analyses, briefings, and recommendations.
  • Supports development and preparation of key presentations by gathering data from stakeholders and providing analysis and output.
  • Monitors and analyzes the performance of thought leadership content and initiatives, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Seeks opportunities to innovate and improve the Bank's though leadership efforts.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Global Corporate Affairs function, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
  • Champions a client focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Champions a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

  • Proven ability to develop and execute content strategies.
  • Strong research and analytical abilities
  • A sense of ownership. The role enables senior leaders to perform at the highest possible level. The incumbent is expected to be responsive but also proactive.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong organization & problem-solving skills.
