Director Technology

Position Overview

We are seeking Director of Technology who will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, support and retirement/upgrade of systems that are at the core of our firm. The candidate will strategize on the approach, collaborate on business needs and partner with the in-house team and external providers to architect and implement solutions. The candidate will be accountable for uptime reliability, performance and smooth operations of the infrastructure & commercial applications support including issue resolution. The Director of Technology will also be responsible for establishing strong partnerships with those vendors and set clear expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform Infrastructure support leadership functions, such as defining strategy, preparing project plans, evaluating best technologies, monitoring, and reporting on project progress, highlighting risks against the plan and desired solution, and mentoring team members.
  • Balancing the day-to-day with the bigger picture and longer-term vision.
  • Responsible for establishing and managing the IT infrastructure budget.
  • Responsible for managing Third Party Service providers, etc.
  • Coordination with Cyber security, data protection, development, and engineering departments.
  • Manage a distributed / highly remote user base.
  • Continue to build best in class solutions for Gen II cloud-based infrastructure using Azure, Kubernetes, Docker containers, SQL, Jira.
  • Cultivate and build a Service Level Agreement and due date focused engineering culture.
  • Collaborate with your peers and leadership to help define our technical direction and product/project roadmaps.
  • Communicate frequently with all stakeholders to provide project status, risk analysis, technical recommendations and resource constraints that may impact strategic direction.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings to understand end to end complex business processes and data flows.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support triage, reporting and correction of production software.
  • Participate in SOC 1 & SOC2 accreditation.


Required Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred)
  • Comfortable working hands-on while leading and growing a small team.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT infrastructure teams and developing direct reports through promotion, performance review communication, accountability, motivation/engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience with any public cloud. Azure experience preferred. One or more Azure cloud operator certifications are preferred.
  • Deep understanding of how to build an efficient IT operation including proactive monitoring and high levels of automation.
  • A history of working in fast-moving environments handling multiple, competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications (ITIL, PMP, cloud certifications)
  • Experience with financial services or professional services infrastructure
  • Track record of successful cloud migrations
  • Experience with emerging technologies (AI/ML, edge computing)


The salary range for this position is $180,000 - $200,000, in addition to a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits package. Please note that the actual salary offered within that range will depend on the candidate's experience level.
