What you'll be doing

As a member of the CIBC Real Estate Finance Division, you will focus exclusively on providing financing to real estate companies on both an interim/construction and term basis across Canada. The team is comprised of experienced real estate professionals with offices located in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton Toronto, Halifax, Ottawa, London, Hamilton, and Montreal. We apply industry expertise to offer full-service financial solutions to real estate companies and users across Canada.

You will manage key client relationships and coordinate the execution of secured revolvers, property acquisition financing, commercial mortgages, and construction loans. As a Director & Team Lead, you will join CIBC's Real Estate Finance Division team to provide direct client coverage through client acquisition, relationship management and credit management processes, taking the lead responsibility for clients and prospects.

How you'll succeed
  • Business Development - Working with the Credit Governance and Oversight function, accountable for the overall performance of the credit portfolio of the team including Expiries, RIL items, RLR, etc. Responsible for the financial results of the team including: RAR, New client acquisition, DOE management, Return on Capital, and the overall client experience for clients covered by the team including retention and marketing activities. Proactively source current ideas and potential solutions for products from Finance, Advisory, Treasury, World Markets, Wealth Management and Partner solution groups. Ensure solutions offered to clients provide an acceptable RAROC (ROE) to CIBC.
  • Portfolio Management - Ensure that the credit quality of the portfolio of accounts is appropriately assessed and risk profiles are accurately evaluated to proactively identify any changes to that profile caused by evolving credit factors (i.e., borrower, economic, market, industry, legal). Appropriately manage the portfolio, with a focus on compliance with terms and conditions of each credit, as well as strict compliance with internal procedures and guidelines. Ensure that pricing strategies are appropriate to ensure achievement of required profitability hurdle rates (RAROC/RORC).
  • Relationship Management - Work with product partners to build account development plans, sales strategies and RAR objectives for each major account. Develop and maintain an external network within the market (i.e., Key stakeholders, prospects, etc.) and promote CIBC's image through senior involvement in community activities. Develop and maintain an internal network with solution groups, other business groups, etc.
  • Training & Development - Play a role in the development of junior staff as a coach and mentor.
