The Impact You Will Have in This Role

At DTCC, your work will directly influence the modernization, scalability, and resilience of technology platforms that support critical business capabilities across the enterprise.

As Director, Software Engineering, Cloud, AI & Modernization, you will lead multiple engineering teams responsible for building and evolving scalable, cloud-enabled platforms while accelerating the adoption of modern engineering practices, AI-powered development, and cloud-native architectures.

This highly visible leadership role combines technical strategy, people leadership, and delivery accountability. You will partner with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and executive stakeholders to drive modernization initiatives, shape technical direction, and deliver secure, resilient, and high-performing technology solutions that support DTCC's future growth.

You will serve as a trusted technology leader who combines architectural vision with execution excellence, helping teams modernize legacy platforms, embrace AI-first engineering practices, and deliver meaningful business outcomes.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

Technology Leadership & Modernization
  • Define and execute technology roadmaps that support modernization, cloud adoption, platform evolution, and business growth.
  • Lead architecture and design decisions for cloud-native, distributed, and full-stack applications.
  • Drive platform modernization through cloud migration, technical debt reduction, containerization, automation, and engineering best practices.
  • Partner with Architecture and Engineering leaders to establish scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions.

AI-First Engineering
  • Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development, generative AI, and agentic engineering practices across the software development lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI for code generation, testing, automation, documentation, operational insights, and developer productivity.
  • Establish governance, controls, and quality standards for AI-enabled engineering practices.
  • Sponsor proofs of concept and reusable AI-driven solutions that accelerate engineering outcomes.

Delivery & Operational Excellence
  • Own delivery outcomes across multiple engineering teams, ensuring alignment with business priorities, quality standards, and strategic objectives.
  • Drive execution across modernization, application development, platform enhancement, and operational initiatives.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, capacity planning, and delivery trade-offs across concurrent programs.
  • Ensure solutions meet expectations for performance, scalability, security, resiliency, observability, and operational readiness.

People Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Engineering Managers, Technical Leads, and Software Engineers.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Support workforce planning, talent development, succession planning, and leadership growth.
  • Build high-performing teams with strong technical depth and business alignment.

Stakeholder Management & Governance
  • Partner with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Operations, Risk, and Business leaders to align technology investments and delivery priorities.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes and executive-level recommendations.
  • Ensure engineering practices align with risk management, governance, regulatory, and security requirements.
  • Represent the organization in architecture, delivery, investment, and operational governance discussions.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including significant technical and people leadership responsibilities.

The salary range is indicative for roles at the same level within DTCC across all US locations. Actual salary is determined based on the role, location, individual experience, skills, and other considerations.

Serves as a dedicated technology resource for advancing DTCC's business opportunities and providing industry thought leadership for leveraging new technology. The goal of this new department is to partner internally with IT, our business and regulatory divisions and externally with clients, regulators, and fintech vendors, to help build new platforms and business models to advance DTCC's mission to support the financial markets.
