Directs mental health services ensuring compliance with city, state, and federal regulations in mental health while maintaining efficient and effective psychiatric services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Develops methods and procedures for directing, coordinating, and monitoring mental health programs and operations throughout the healthcare setting.
2. Plans, directs, and coordinates activities to provide guidance and interpretation of mental health policies and regulations.
3. Develops policies, standards, rules and regulations pertaining to psychiatric programs in the healthcare setting.
4. Oversees general operations of psychiatric services while fostering effective communication among Central Office, healthcare settings and psychiatric programs.
5. Develops, recommends, and implements new projects and programs pertaining to mental health services.
6. Represents the System in matters relating to mental health services; maintains liaison with various governmental agencies.
7. Plans, directs, and coordinates the operation, development and evaluation of units within the Mental Health Division.
8. Provides technical and managerial expertise to mental health administrators.
9. Directs the preparation of reports and proposals to attain city, state, federal approval of grant applications.
10. Determines and applies appropriate quantitative and qualitative criteria for program evaluation.
11. Stays informed about advancements in the mental health field; advises the System of priorities and policies.
12. Performs related duties, as assigned
Minimum Qualifications1. Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health discipline issued by the
New York State Education Department (NYSED); and
2. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a health care setting or regulatory agency
administration, with an emphasis on development and evaluation of mental health delivery services; three
(3) years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity.
