Director CIAM (Customer Identity & Access Management) Engineering will lead the enterprise engineering to accelerate the build of global CIAM services, advance engineering capabilities, and work with technology, fraud, and business partners across geographies to lead foundational and transformational security products strategically across the enterprise.

The incumbent will be leading the end-to-end engineering function (business analysis, QA, NFT, web/mobile development and onboarding) of Customer Protection Platforms and Services.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Own the engineering lifecycle for CIAM platforms, including solution design, web/mobile development, QA/NFT, release management, modernization, and production support for Customer Identity and Authentication services.
  • Develop and modernize core CIAM capabilities such as authentication, authorization, MFA, risk-based authentication, customer registration, and user administration services, ensuring platforms are modern, scalable, resilient, and enterprise-grade.
  • Work across functions and partner with stakeholders to onboard and integrate global business channels onto the CIAM platform across web and mobile and deliver in alignment with security, fraud and business goals.
  • In partnership with IAM Product and Architecture, provide governance and design CIAM solutions and initiatives across global channels.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Create an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Build a high performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Computer Science / Engineering Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Information Security leadership roles, with at least 5 years leading a CIAM Engineering function in a complex, global organization. 5 years with experience building and running enterprise class systems. Financial services and, specifically, banking experience is highly desired
  • Comprehensive knowledge of QA methodology, procedures and standards
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodology backed by hands on experience, development techniques and best practices for an enterprise framework
  • Java design and development experience with a track record in development and deployment of REST web services, JavaScript, Unix scripting, configuration and deployment of services to web application servers in Dev / QA / UAT / Prod environments. Excellent algorithms and data structure skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, demonstrated from both technical and business perspectives
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; have vision and innovative approach to computer-based solutions and ability to convey these ideas
  • Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to focus on critical issues
  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure. Must be reliable, proactive, results-oriented, customer-focused and attentive to details
  • Ability to think out-of-the-box
  • Strong knowledge and demonstrable experience of common IT organizational technology and processes
