Role OverviewNew York Life Investment Management is seeking a strategic and experienced Director, Institutional Marketing to help shape and advance the firm's global institutional marketing strategy. This role will report to the Head of Global Institutional Marketing and partner closely with the product, investment, brand, digital and events teams to develop strategic marketing priorities, strengthen positioning across institutional client channels, and drive integrated marketing initiatives that support business growth.
The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in institutional asset management marketing, with a strong understanding of insurance asset management, private markets, and global investment strategies across both public and private asset classes. As a recognized subject matter expert in institutional marketing, this individual will provide strategic guidance to investment teams, distribution leadership, affiliate boutiques, and senior business stakeholders to develop differentiated positioning, thought leadership, and go-to-market strategies that enhance client engagement and commercial outcomes.
Reporting to the Head of Global Institutional Marketing, this role plays a key leadership role in shaping institutional marketing strategy, influencing business priorities, and leading complex cross-functional initiatives across the global institutional business.
What You'll Do: - Partner with colleagues across marketing, distribution, communications and compliance to shape and advance the global institutional marketing strategy, aligning marketing priorities with business objectives and growth opportunities.
- Serve as a recognized subject matter expert in institutional and insurance asset management marketing, providing strategic guidance on market positioning, client trends, competitive dynamics, and go-to-market opportunities.
- Lead the development of integrated marketing strategies and thought leadership initiatives that strengthen New York Life Investment Management's positioning across institutional client segments, with a particular focus on Insurance Asset Management.
- Partner with investment teams, affiliate boutiques, product management, consultant relations, and distribution leadership to develop differentiated messaging and integrated go-to-market strategies across public and private market investment capabilities.
- Lead highly complex, cross-functional marketing initiatives across investment affiliates, regional marketing teams, and global distribution partners to drive coordinated execution and business impact.
- Evaluate market trends, competitive intelligence, and marketing performance to inform strategic recommendations, optimize marketing investments, and demonstrate marketing's contribution to commercial outcomes.
- Influence senior business stakeholders through strategic marketing counsel, helping align marketing priorities with evolving client needs and business objectives.
- Ensure institutional marketing programs and communications comply with applicable regulatory and governance standards while maintaining brand consistency and integrity.
What You'll Bring:- 8-10 years of marketing experience within asset management, institutional investment management, insurance asset management, or related financial services sectors.
- Strong knowledge of insurance general account investing, private credit, private equity, real assets, infrastructure, and other alternative investment strategies.
- Experience marketing both public and private market investment capabilities to institutional audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex investment concepts into compelling client-focused narratives.
- Recognized expertise in institutional asset management marketing with demonstrated experience developing strategic marketing programs that drive business growth.
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders and build trusted partnerships across investment teams, distribution, product management, affiliate boutiques, and executive stakeholders.
- Demonstrated success navigating highly complex, cross-functional marketing initiatives within a global, matrixed organization.
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate market insights into differentiated positioning, go-to-market strategies, and commercial opportunities.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, analytical, and project management skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; MBA, CAIA, or other advanced degree preferred.

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
