Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Director, Identity & Network Security to join our team. This role leads enterprise identity, privileged access, network security, and segmentation programs. It is accountable for control ownership, reliable operations, risk reduction, audit readiness, and delivery of a multi-year security roadmap across corporate, cloud, manufacturing, and operational technology environments. This is a leadership position requiring strong judgment, accountability, and the ability to guide teams and vendors toward measurable outcomes.

4 days per week Onsite

The Role

  • Own and execute the multi-year roadmap for Identity and Access Management, privileged access, network security, segmentation, and Zero Trust aligned with enterprise priorities.
  • Serve as senior escalation point and decision authority for identity and network security matters, including exceptions and unresolved control risk.
  • Build, coach, and retain a high-performing team with clear accountability and measurable performance expectations.
  • Manage budgets, vendor performance, managed-service outcomes, contracts, and technology investment recommendations.
  • Direct the identity lifecycle across workforce, privileged, service, third-party, and machine identities, including provisioning, authentication, and access reviews.
  • Establish governance for Active Directory and Entra ID, including privileged role activation and emergency access.
  • Advance privileged access management, secrets management, least privilege, and removal of standing administrative access.
  • Own firewall strategy, security architecture, policy governance, and rule lifecycle management.
  • Oversee perimeter, internal, cloud, remote-access, and third-party connectivity controls for reliability and policy optimization.
  • Lead deployment and operation of segmentation and Zero Trust controls across critical environments.
  • Define and maintain identity and network security policies, standards, and control objectives.
  • Support audits, regulatory reviews, risk assessments, and issue remediation with sustainable corrective actions.
  • Apply approved AI and automation to improve efficiency while maintaining human validation and oversight.
  • Approve domain standards, operating procedures, and technology roadmaps within delegated authority.

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive cybersecurity experience, including 5+ years leading identity and/or network security functions and 3+ years managing teams.
  • Depth in at least two areas: identity governance, privileged access management, directory services, firewall and network security, segmentation, or Zero Trust.
  • Experience operating enterprise identity, privileged access, firewall, policy-management, and segmentation capabilities in a complex global environment.
  • Working knowledge of security and control frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST SP 800-53, ISO/IEC 27001, and Zero Trust principles, plus regulated-control expectations relevant to life sciences.
  • Ability to translate technical risk into business impact, executive decisions, measurable outcomes, and funded roadmaps.
  • Experience governing automation or AI-assisted operational processes, including validation, access control, auditability, and human oversight.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive communication skills.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalentsponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.

Preferred Skills & Background

  • Strong technical expertise in at least one domain with ability to lead experienced technical teams.
  • Understanding of strategy, budgeting, and governance processes.
  • Experience partnering with vendors and internal stakeholders across global sites.
  • Progression from hands-on technical work into people leadership roles.
  • Practical understanding of emerging AI technologies and their impact on cybersecurity.
  • Industry preference for Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, or Medical Device organizations with familiarity in GxP-regulated environments and change control processes.
  • Ability to manage a budget of approximately $3M annually, including CapEx and OpEx planning.
  • Experience with procurement processes, NDAs, purchase orders, forecasting, and contract management.
  • Preferred technologies: Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory, Palo Alto Networks.
  • Experience leading global teams and operating in regulated environments.
  • Executive presence and ability to communicate strategy to senior leadership.
