Responsibilities

Summary : The Director of Accounting is a financial leader reporting to the Senior Director of Accounting, within the Chief Accounting Officer organization, responsible for overseeing core monthly accounting operations, consolidations, and financial systems while driving standardization, scalability, and strong process discipline. This role leads the modernization and efficiency of the financial close and reconciliation processes, including chart of accounts rationalization and expanded use of BlackLine and reporting tools, while building strong accounting management capability and foundational accounting rigor across the team.

The Director will manage a team of approx. 5 accounting professionals and partners closely with internal back-office stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and SOX-controlled financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

Responsibilities:

Financial Close, Consolidations & Reporting
  • Own and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including company-wide consolidations, intercompany eliminations, balance sheet integrity and cash flows.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP and SOX internal control requirements.
  • Partner with FP&A and senior leadership to support management reporting, variance analysis, and executive-level financial insights.

Financial Systems & Process Transformation
  • Serve as the accounting business owner for core financial systems, partnering with IT on system stability, enhancements, integrations, and upgrades.
  • Lead chart of accounts rationalization and standardization efforts, simplifying structures to improve reporting clarity, scalability, and internal controls while maintaining the ability to support GAAP, statutory/regulatory, tax, and management reporting requirements.
  • Drive close acceleration, automation, and process consistency across accounting close processes.
  • Lead centralized financial data reporting enablement using business intelliegence reporting tools, unlocking efficiency in reporting across multiple financial platforms.

Reconciliations, Controls & BlackLine Enablement
  • Establish and enforce strong balance sheet reconciliation standards, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and clear ownership across all accounts.
  • Lead the implementation, expansion, and optimization of BlackLine for account reconciliations, task management, and close governance.
  • Upgrade reconciliation quality through training on fundamental accounting concepts, documentation standards, and effective review practices within BlackLine.
  • Perform periodic management-level balance sheet reconciliation reviews on a risk-based basis.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to support audits and ensure audit-ready documentation, controls, and issue resolution.

Team Leadership & Management
  • Directly manage two Accounting Managers, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development while setting clear expectations for accountability and quality.
  • Provide functional oversight of the broader corporate accounting team with respect to close execution, analysis, and reporting standards.
  • Oversee small, decentralized and outsourced accounting teams, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies, timelines, and service-level expectations across internal and external resources.
  • Build foundational accounting and SOX controls capability across the organization through targeted training, standardized workpapers, and repeatable processes.
  • May assume other duties as applied.

Digital and Automation Transformation

As a part of our priority and focus on finance transformation and modernization of the accounting and finance team, we require that our team members embrace the evolution to digital capabilities within finance and throughout the organization.
  • Be a thought leader and a change agent to drive the adoption of digital capabilities and automation within the accounting/finance teams. Embed digital-first thinking throughout the finance organization.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies into financial reporting, SOX business process management and accounting
  • Train and mentor accounting and finance team members on digital tools, automation opportunities and best practices in reporting

Qualifications

Required Skills:
  • Deep expertise in close management, consolidations, financial systems, and team leadership, including experience in high-growth or transformation environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading financial systems initiatives, including close tools, ERP-adjacent platforms, and shared EPM environments. (JDE, Jedox, Blackline)
  • Demonstrated experience with financial reporting and analysis tools (PowerBI, Looker)
  • Proven ability to manage and transform teams
  • Clear, confident communicator with the ability to partner effectively with senior finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Physical Role Requirements : Be seated at a computer intermittently for up to eight hours a day. Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects. Minimum Education, Licensure and Professional Certification requirements:

This role pays between $ 165k to $ 180k , and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, responsibilities, experience, and location.
