Director, Accounting

What will you do?

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role. There will be more, but we can discuss those in person.

  • Oversee and direct every aspect of the accounting function for the Project, including strategic financial decisions and everyday accounting activities, month end processes, financial and management reporting, and cash management;
  • Be the team leader and oversee the development accounting team while supporting multiple projects at different phases within the development cycle;
  • Be a member of the project leadership team developing strategies to optimize returns while working alongside with Partners and various Project Teams on all operational and strategic issues providing analytical support and recommendations based on accounting, financial and risk analysis;
  • Manage and support the accounting team in their daily tasks and responsibilities; lead with the focus on accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting, accountability, continuous skill development and professional and career growth;
  • Set up appropriate accounting policies; research, interpret, document and implement accounting guidance on accounting issues and ensure appropriate accounting treatment of business transactions at all times;
  • Contribute to the budgeting processes for the division, including cash re-forecasting and operational forecasting;
  • Assist with the analysis of acquisition and financing transactions and other special projects that may arise;
  • Implement financial reporting and compliance requirements directly related to the operations of the properties;
  • Initiate process change to drive efficiencies through process review, automation, application of effective IT solutions and data management;
  • Establish and maintain a strong internal control environment to ensure continuous compliance with various regulatory requirements, including IFRS, applicable federal and provincial laws and regulations for financial and tax reporting;and
  • Manage the preparation of financial statements including notes disclosure; provide timely and accurate analysis of forecasts, financial results, cash flows and operating metrics; plan and coordinate the external audit and tax compliance process.


What type of experience and skills do you have?

  • Minimum of 6 years ofsupervisoryexperience;
  • CPA designation with strong IFRS & ASPE knowledge;
  • You have recent experience with:
    • Construction/development accounting;
    • Implementing management reporting and accounting systems, process improvement and automation;
    • Review of organizational legal documents and determination of potential accounting implications;
    • Research and documentation of accounting guidance to various complex accounting;

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, commerce, or business;
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly in Microsoft Excel;
  • Experience with JD Edwards is a definite asset;
  • Strong people manager;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships across all levels within, as well as outside the organization;
  • Independent, self-starter, and also works well in a team based environment; and
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities within structured deadlines and deliverables.




This is a regular, full-time position with a base salary range of $150,000-$175,000. In addition to base salary, the role is eligible for a performance-based bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, which includes paid vacation and personal days, flexible benefits, mental health resources, access to perks and discounts, professional development support, and team-building and social events.

Compensation is determined based on several factors, including relevant experience, total years of experience, industry experience, education, and professional designations. We recognize that exceptional talent doesn't always fit neatly into a bracket. Final compensation will be tailored to your specific experience, skills and the unique value you bring to the table. If your qualifications exceed the scope of this role, we may be open to adjusting the mandate - and the salary - to reflect that expertise.
