The Change Manager role entails guiding the organization and its stakeholders through the change curve of its major change initiatives, ensuring the success of the "people" aspects of RTI's Digital Transformation Program. This role entails working across multiple projects of that Program. The role will include planning and executing the change management aspects of Digital initiatives including training, communications, stakeholder engagement, policy, incentives and performance measurement. Additionally, the role also includes Business Analysis to interpret business requirements into process and policy designs, etc.

The Change Manager/BA will be expected to work autonomously in the day to day, setting the structure of the work at hand for both themselves and the personnel they may supervise. The Digital Project Manager will be expected to perform a variety of tasks and will be involved in multiple projects at a time. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

The position will functionally report to the Digital Transformation Program Manager and Interaction with their supervisor will occur at least once or twice a week. Administratively this role reports to the VP of IT and Digital.

Duties & Responsibilities

Change Manager Responsibilities: The Change Manager responsibilities entail guiding all levels of the RTI business through the "Change Curve" that results from its major change initiatives as well as from business growth and acquisitions. They would be responsible to develop and execute tactics and plans for change management that increase employee engagement and reduce opposition. The transition manager will collaborate on the changes affecting stakeholders to achieve quicker implementation, better overall efficiency and competence. These changes will enhance profits and overall ROI achieved by our major initiatives by providing the following:
Stakeholder Identification and Engagement - Identifying all "customers" of a given initiative and understanding both how they will benefit and how they will be affected by the change. Determine the proper cross-section of "Super users" to engage in the various parts of the initiative's lifecycle. Create plans for engagement and building interest/buy-in of these groups.
Awareness and Communication - Create communication plans defining the audience, messaging and timing of communication and setting the proper disseminators of this communication. Making communication materials available to stakeholders in the optimal channels throughout project lifecycles.
Training and Coaching - Creating Training Plans and materials to effectively prepare stakeholders to use the new systems and processes designed by the initiative. Ensure that stakeholders engage in training and that their readiness is assessed and corrected as needed. Provide coaching/guidance to users as new systems/processes are being adopted.
Incentives/Motivation and Sponsorship Alignment - Create the proper incentives for users to change behavior to overcome change inertia and ultimately realize the benefits case of the initiative. This begins with obtaining the required executive sponsorship, creating interest and buy-in of stakeholders and creating the "carrots and sticks" to incentivize.
Monitoring and Reporting - Finally, the role entails setting KPIs measures and commencing an on-going program to monitor the effectiveness of the new system, processes and policies to confirm that the Business Case benefits are being realized.

In addition to formal Change Management tasks, the role will often also entail acting as a "Business Analyst". Depending on the project, either or both of these two roles would be involved.

Business Analysis Responsibilities: The Business Analyst responsibilities include understanding the business requirements and value-statement of the project and creating functional and technical designs to support the project's goals.

The Business Analyst is expected to be able to learn quickly, work from limited experience, and use judgment to accomplish design goals.

The following detailed responsibilities are required:

• Business Design
  • Understand RTI's business concepts, practices and procedures across the breadth of its business
  • Consider implications of business needs on the systems being developed
  • Create both functional and technical designs which are thorough, considering all relevant use cases
  • Evaluate integration needs, details, and impacts; evaluating costs and impacts to the project
  • Create and maintain project documentation (process flows, solution papers, business requirements, interface designs, etc.)
  • Present details of the project to RTI personnel levels up to and potentially including executives

Stakeholder (Super Users) Engagement in Design/Development
  • Manage the relationship with all stakeholders to engage and inform
  • Facilitate discussions and meetings to yield productive outcomes without excluding any members

• Issue Resolution

o Identify and resolve issues, including knowing when to escalate them
• Project Management Responsibilities - Occasionally, project management responsibilities may be required and include the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope and overseeing all aspects of projects.

o Project Planning - Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives & develop a detailed project plan

o Project Execution/Management - Ensure that project is delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

o Scope Management

Supervisory Responsibilities (Direct and indirect)

Typical expectation would be to guide stakeholders thru the change curve to successfully adopt the new process and usage of new systems/tools while engaging executive sponsors to play their role in the Program. The role is not typically expected to have direct people administrative supervision.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• A strong understanding of how people view transition and the mechanism of transition
• A strong and proven track record for guiding organizational adoption of new processes which require behavioral and cultural change
• Strong analytical skills, particularly around data and databases
• Strong skills in work processes mapping, defining current and future states and associated pain points
• Effective written and verbal communication skills at all levels
• Ability to interact successfully across all levels of an organization and to report to executive management

Acceptable Experience and Training
• 5 years experience working with software/process change initiatives, either custom or commercial, including process design, managing tool selection, configuration, integration, and deployment

Required Certificates and/or Licenses
• Knowledge and understanding of the principles and methodologies of change management (examples incldue Prosci with ADKAR, Kotter approach, etc.)
• Optional preference for Membership of the Organization of Practitioners of Change Management
• Degree in business administration, computer science, or equivalent experience

Working Conditions

Typical work environment is an office/remote hybrid. Occasional need to visit mechanical shops or refinery sites to observe / engage team using tools in the field.

Physical Demands

Typical office work environment needs.

Safety Equipment/Apparel

Office attire appropriate for most of the time. Appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) will be as needed for shop and refinery-based workdays on rare occasions.

Required Travel

Minimal travel as needed to engage with the team on requirements or suppliers on project development and execution.
