Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited program or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer licensure or FE/EIT certification with intent to obtain PE within 1-1/2 years.
• 3-6+ years of relevant substation design engineering experience, ideally at an engineering consulting firm.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Mathcad, RISA3D, and AutoCAD; FEA software experience preferred.
• Familiarity with IBC, ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, and AWS building codes; experience with ASCE 113, NESC, or IEEE standards is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 15% in the continental US.

Responsibilities

• Execute civil/structural engineering tasks for electrical substation design with minimal guidance.
• Perform designs for structural steel, anchorage, and concrete foundations and create detailed drawings.
• Develop structural analysis models for steel structures and equipment foundations using in-house tools.
• Assist in preparing calculation reports, reviewing shop drawings, and conducting construction submittal reviews.
• Conduct structural analysis and design work for substations with voltage classes up to 345kV.
• Produce and review civil/structural design drawings including foundation plans and oil containment details.
• Coordinate with other design elements in civil drawings such as site and drainage plans.
