Job Description

The Data Engineer is responsible for the administration, support, and optimization of enterprise database platforms and data solutions. This role designs, implements, and maintains reliable, scalable, and secure database environments while supporting data processing, automation, and operational excellence initiatives. The position provides technical expertise for MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL platforms, ensuring system availability, performance, and lifecycle management through upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, and modernization efforts. The role partners with engineering, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to deliver resilient database services that support business objectives and technology transformation initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, and support MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL database environments.
  • Perform database upgrades, migrations, patching, and lifecycle management activities.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, availability, capacity, and reliability.
  • Design and implement automation solutions to reduce manual operational tasks and improve efficiency.
  • Support database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.

  • Develop and maintain database standards, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Support database deployments across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Participate in operational support activities and on-call rotations as required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience administering and supporting enterprise database platforms, including MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with database upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, and lifecycle management.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems and database infrastructure administration.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools such as Python, Shell, Ansible, or similar technologies.
  • Understanding of database replication, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability architectures.
  • Experience supporting databases in cloud, containerized, or hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL ecosystem tools, including EDB, CloudNativePG, OpenShift, and Kubernetes, preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work across multiple technical teams.
