Summary

If selected, you will serve as a Database Administrator, working within Policy and Program Development. You will provide analytical services to develop and improve APHIS programs.

Duties

Help

  • The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Working with agency leadership, you will advise senior staff on progress with strategic and operational goals
  • Develop and implement PPD-wide policies, procedures, and strategic plans governing the planning and delivery of APHIS' and PPD's web-based products
  • Design and implement databases throughout the agency
  • Serve as a liaison for facilities management and other space concerns
  • Create and maintain custom Internet or Sharepoint-based interfaces and applications, query tools, and utilities of PPD and APHIS supported applications
  • Overseeing written information and the design of web pages to ensure they are in line with USDA, APHIS, PPD standards, policies, and procedures

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:

  • Demonstrating expertise in web-based collaboration platforms such as SharePoint to create and maintain resources in an effort to support a program
  • Implementing information systems that promote agency priorities and enhance decision making for leadership
  • Possessing comprehensive knowledge of the Agency and various customer missions, visions, and goals
  • Applying knowledge of agency directives, federal regulation, etc. to develop data solutions.


Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
