POSITION SUMMARY: The Data Scientist I drives internal data analytics projects. The role collaborates with executive leaders to deliver analytical solutions to business problems. Initiatives vary from descriptive analyses to the development and implementation of advanced statistical, machine learning, and AI models. The Data Scientist I effectively communicates both technical and business concepts across all levels of the organization, and they influence decision making through presentation of data-based recommendations.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Builds statistical and machine-learning models to enhance understanding of trends and predict future performance
- Participates in end-to-end data science project lifecycle - data mining and exploration, model development and evaluation, solution deployment in production, measurement, and tracking
- Performs time-series analyses, hypothesis testing, and causal analyses to statistically assess relative impact and extract trends across all relevant functional areas
- Transforms data into actionable insights and recommendations
- Designs experiments and interprets the results to draw detailed and actionable conclusions
- Researches and resolves data inquiries and requests
- Documents requirements for data science and reporting projects
- Designs, validates, and evaluates solutions using R, Python, SQL, and other programming tools
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES: - Proficiency with programming in Python or R in data science and/or statistical analysis settings
- Proficiency with relational databases and the ability to write SQL queries.
- Proficiency with Excel and PowerBI.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Master's degree preferred.
- 1 year of experience working with large databases to perform complex analysis.
- 1 year of experience with statistics and multivariate analytical techniques including multivariate regression, logistic regression, cluster analysis, design of experiments, machine learning, and decision trees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's Degree in an analytical field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management, Statistics, Engineering).
- 1 year of experience with advanced programming in Python or R and SQL, conducting complex statistical analysis and building machine learning algorithms with large databases.
This is an in-office position at our Phoenix, AZ headquarters.
