This is not a client delivery seat. You own the data engine behind the firm itself, the internal platforms, proprietary data assets, and AI capabilities its consultants and products run on. You lead a portfolio of internal data, analytics, and AI initiatives, own the Databricks environment at the center of it, manage a small team of engineers plus contractors, and answer for whether the firm's data capabilities keep pace with its growth.
The right person has lived on both sides: corporate platform ownership and consulting-grade problem solving.
What you'll own- A portfolio of internal data, analytics, and AI initiatives spanning multiple teams, priorities, dependencies, and performance indicators, run on a 4-to-6-week sprint cadence
- The firm's Databricks environment and surrounding data infrastructure, keeping platforms, pipelines, and data sources reliable, scalable, secure, and fit for purpose
- Growth and governance of proprietary data assets and intellectual property, making sure new IP gets captured, documented, maintained, and reused across the firm
- Strategic direction for the firm's data capabilities, so individual project decisions support enterprise-wide needs and preserve future options
- Analytical and technical architecture, governance requirements, success measures, and deliverables for cross-functional initiatives
- A team of 3 to 4 direct reports plus contractors: leading, mentoring, and developing engineers across data, analytics, infrastructure, and technical design
- Adoption of new tools and ways of working, through presentations, enablement sessions, and one-on-one work with managers and senior stakeholders
- Quality control across data, infrastructure, analytical outputs, and technical deliverables, judged enterprise-wide rather than project by project
What you bring- 8+ years of relevant experience with a two-sided background: corporate data platform ownership mixed with consulting or consulting-adjacent work
- Hands-on Databricks experience running an enterprise environment (this is central to the role), plus experience with Snowflake, Google Cloud, or a comparable platform
- Track record as a solution architect or comparable role spanning data platforms, technical architecture, and cross-functional delivery
- Experience leading technical programs or portfolios against multiple objectives, dependencies, and performance indicators
- Team leadership: you've led engineers directly, or are clearly ready to, and can manage a mixed team of employees and contractors
- Strong data governance instincts: platform reliability, quality assurance, documentation, and stewardship of proprietary data assets
- The consulting-manager toolkit: structured problem solving, executive communication, stakeholder management, and the presence to build support among technical teams, consultants, and senior leaders
- Experience driving adoption of new platforms, tools, or ways of working inside an organization
- Domain depth in telecom, TMT, media, or technology, or in geospatial data; closely adjacent infrastructure sectors like utilities also considered
- Based in or near Boston, New York, or the Bay Area, with the ability to be onsite a few times a month
Bonus points- Geospatial analytics and tooling: ArcGIS, QGIS, Tableau, Python, SQL
- Cloud-based data and AI/ML environments; exposure to architecture frameworks such as TOGAF
- Experience in a global organization using a global staffing model
- Master's degree in a relevant field
