Description

Take your career to new heights with the Astronics team as a Data Migration Lead!

Astronics, a leader in aerospace manufacturing and technology solutions, is seeking an experienced Data Migration Lead to drive the data migration strategy and execution for our multi-year Dynamics 365 implementation across global locations. As we embark on this transformational ERP journey, you will own the end-to-end data migration process - from extraction and mapping through validation and go-live - ensuring data integrity across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, MES, and Engineering systems.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will lead the data migration workstream, collaborate closely with developers, functional analysts, infrastructure teams, and our implementation partner. You will combine strategic planning with hands-on execution, running SQL queries, designing data transformation logic, driving validation to ensure a clean cutover to D365, MES, PLM and custom applications.

This is a remote role, which requires flexibility to travel as needed to our headquarters outside of Buffalo, New York. Some additional travel will also be expected to support go-live activities both domestically and internationally.

What You'll Do:

Are you a data migration expert who thrives leading complex ERP data initiatives? At Astronics, you will be the Accountable for all data migration activities. You will define migration strategy, coordinate multiple data sources, guide teams through technical transformation challenges, and own the outcome of data quality across all D365 go-lives.
  • Project Planning: Develop detailed migration plans, manage timelines, and coordinate dependencies across developers, analysts, infrastructure teams and implementation partner.
  • Data Extraction & Source System Analysis: Lead the extraction of data from all source systems (legacy ERP/PLM). Analyze source system data structures. Work with process owners, functional and integration leads to understand data dependencies and ensure all required data is captured.
  • SQL & ETL: Collaborate with developers, write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and ETL logic. Troubleshoot data anomalies and pipeline performance issues.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Lead meetings with functional analysts and developers. Provide technical guidance while incorporating business requirements. Communicate status and risks regularly with global project manager.
  • Data Validation & Quality Assurance: Design and run validation tests to ensure all migrated data is complete and accurate. Create test cases, validation scripts, and reconciliation checklists that can be reused. Manage business team participation in validation activities and coordinate data cleanup efforts. Track data quality issues from discovery to fix, documenting what went wrong and how it was resolved. Present results to functional leads for approval before UAT and go-live.
  • Documentation: Create data mapping documentation, transformation specifications, validation procedures, and runbooks. Build internal capability through migration playbooks.
  • AI & Data Analysis Support: Collaborate with the AI Lead to leverage Open WebUI and internal AI modules to identify data patterns, anomalies, and optimization opportunities. Use AI tools to accelerate validation and automate data profiling workflows.
  • Data Governance & Purview: Partner with the Data Governance Lead to classify all migrated data in Microsoft Purview. Define data sensitivity levels and lineage. Ensure compliance with enterprise data classification standards.
  • Enterprise Data Warehouse: Understand how migrated data flows from source systems through D365 into the Enterprise Data Warehouse. Design and validate D365-to-EDW data loads.
  • Establish MDM principles with the Data Governance Lead and infrastructure team. Monitor data quality post-go-live. Help document data governance workflows and stewardship responsibilities. Continue supporting master data improvements - this will not be a one and done!

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on data migration experience in Dynamics 365 F&O.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency: writing complex queries, stored procedures, and ETL logic.
  • Experience leading data migration projects from extraction through go-live, including data mapping, transformation, validation, and cutover in multi-phase implementations.
  • Exposure to international data migrations across multiple legal entities.
  • Demonstrated experience with data quality assessment, validation frameworks, and reconciliation.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including developers, business analysts, infrastructure and vendor teams.
  • Solid understanding of financial data flows (GL, AP, AR) and supply chain processes (Procurement, Inventory, Warehouse Management).
  • Familiarity with data staging environments, ETL tools, and database management.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data governance platforms (Microsoft Purview).
  • Experience with Open WebUI, generative AI tools, or AI-assisted data profiling and validation.

  • Detail-oriented and organized; able to manage multiple data streams, timelines, and priorities simultaneously.
