We are currently seeking a Data Engineer/DBA - REMOTE to join our team in Bethesda (REMOTE), Maryland (US-MD), United States (US).

Job Summary:

The Database / Data Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and optimization of secure, scalable, and high-performance databases and data pipelines that support the full lifecycle of radiation exposure management across enterprise. This role is critical to the modernization, enabling the ingestion, storage, migration, and retrieval of large volumes of dosimeter, personnel, inventory, and operational data in compliance with DoD cybersecurity, privacy, and auditability requirements. The engineer works closely with solution architects, backend/API engineers, and operational stakeholders to ensure that all database solutions are robust, resilient, and aligned with the mission-critical needs of operational communities. The Database / Data Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining SQL and NoSQL databases, implementing data migration and conflict resolution workflows, supporting legacy data integration, and enabling secure data exchange between edge devices, cloud services, and user-facing applications. The position requires hands-on experience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, data encryption, and compliance with DoD IL4, FedRAMP, and RMF controls. The engineer maintains comprehensive technical documentation, supports user acceptance testing, and ensures that all data solutions are auditable, maintainable, and optimized for operational readiness and regulatory reporting.

Job Duties:
  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable SQL and NoSQL databases for modules, including dosimeter, personnel, and inventory data
  • Develop and optimize data pipelines for ingestion, migration, and synchronization between edge devices, cloud services, and user applications
  • Support legacy data migration, conflict resolution, and data quality assurance workflows
  • Administer database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions in compliance with DoD requirements
  • Implement and maintain data encryption, access controls, and audit logging to ensure data security and privacy
  • Collaborate with backend, edge, and frontend teams to support seamless data integration and operational workflows
  • Monitor and tune database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries for reliability and efficiency
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for database schemas, data flows, and operational procedures
  • Participate in code reviews, security assessments, and compliance audits as required by contract and SOW
  • Provide technical support for user acceptance testing, deployment, and ongoing operations of data solutions


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience administering, testing, implementing, and optimizing SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • US Citizen and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience designing and administering SQL and NoSQL databases in regulated or mission-critical environments
  • Proficiency with database performance tuning, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery planning
  • Experience with data migration, ETL, and conflict resolution workflows
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity, privacy, and RMF requirements for IL4/IL5 systems
  • Experience supporting integration with AWS GovCloud, IoT data sources, and cloud-based data pipelines
  • Strong documentation and communication skills, including the ability to produce technical specifications and data flow diagrams
  • Experience supporting field deployment, troubleshooting, and operational support for distributed data systems


NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this remote role is $71,532 - $149,026. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance. If the position offered in temporary, the position will not be eligible for incentive compensation. This position is eligible for company benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance with an employer contribution, flexible spending or health savings account, life and AD&D insurance, short and long term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program with company match, and additional voluntary or legally-required benefits.
