We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Application Support Engineer (L2 / L3 Support) - REMOTE to join our team in Frisco, Texas (US-TX), United States (US).
Day to Day Responsibilities:
• Provide L2/L3 application and operational support for pharmacy systems, ensuring high availability and timely resolution of incidents, service requests, and production issues.
• Demonstrate deep understanding of pharmacy workflows, including medication dispensing, pharmacist verification, compounding, order processing and medication administration.
• Support and troubleshoot Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADC), barcode labeling systems, medication packaging solutions, and automated dispensing technologies.
• Manage and maintain drug libraries, medication formularies, medication dictionaries, and clinical content updates in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor, support, and troubleshoot integrations between Pharmacy Information Systems, Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR), billing applications, inventory management systems, and medication management platforms.
• Support interface management using HL7 and other healthcare integration standards to ensure seamless data exchange between pharmacy and clinical systems.
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations and standards including USP 795, USP 797, USP 800, DEA requirements, ISBT-128 standards, medication safety practices, and healthcare regulatory guidelines.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA), problem management, and implement preventive measures for recurring incidents.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, clinical teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and application stakeholders to resolve complex issues.
• Support application upgrades, patches, system validation activities, testing, release management, and change implementation.
• Develop and maintain operational documentation, SOPs, knowledge articles, troubleshooting guides, and support runbooks.
• Participate in on-call support, major incident management, and critical issue resolution activities.
Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 5+years In-depth knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication workflows, dispensing processes, and clinical pharmacy practices.
• 5+years Experience with automated dispensing systems, barcode medication administration (BCMA), and medication packaging solutions.
• 5+years Working knowledge of healthcare integrations, HL7 messaging, interface engines, and EMR/EHR connectivity.
• 5+years Experience managing formulary updates, drug database maintenance, medication master data, and clinical content configurations.
• 5+years Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, interface, device connectivity, and workflow-related issues.
• 5+years Knowledge of healthcare compliance, medication safety standards, and pharmacy regulatory requirements.
• 5+years Ability to analyze logs, identify root causes, and coordinate resolution across multiple technical teams and vendors.
• Skills integrating pharmacy systems with billing, EMR, and inventory platforms
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting solutions such as Omnicell, Pyxis, BD HealthSight, Epic Willow, Baxter, Swisslog, ScriptPro, or similar pharmacy platforms.
• ITIL Foundation, Healthcare IT, Pharmacy Informatics, or related certifications preferred.
NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for U.S.-based positions. The starting pay range for this role is $78,948 - $120,615.Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
