Internal Job Title: Lead Business Intelligence Data Engineer

Location: League City, Texas - Datacenter I Onsite

Status: Full-Time, Salaried

Reports to: Principal Business Intelligence Data Engineer

Join our Data Platform team as a Lead Business Intelligence Data Engineer and help modernize the pipelines that power enterprise reporting, analytics, and actuarial models. You will lead complex data engineering efforts across mainframe, data warehouse, data lake, and cloud environments while serving as a trusted technical adviser.

What You Will Do
  • Build, monitor, and enhance pipelines that ingest data from core enterprise systems
  • Prepare, transform, govern, and validate data for reporting, analytics, and downstream models
  • Reverse engineer legacy SQL and mainframe processes and modernize them using Python notebooks, Databricks, or similar cloud tools
  • Own complex enterprise projects and data-domain initiatives from design through production
  • Develop standards, best practices, and workflows that improve data quality and delivery
  • Troubleshoot complex data issues and provide advanced technical analysis
  • Mentor developers and collaborate with Actuarial, Life, Annuity, Pension Risk Transfer, and Enterprise Data Analytics teams


What You Bring
  • Six + years of relevant data engineering or business intelligence experience
  • A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and professional credentials
  • Expert-level SQL programming skills
  • Hands-on experience with Python or another enterprise scripting or object-oriented language
  • Experience with data ingestion, integration, ETL, and the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to reverse engineer existing code and translate legacy processes into modern solutions
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, collaboration, and technical mentoring skills


Preferred Experience
  • Azure or AWS cloud engineering experience
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, or comparable platforms
  • Knowledge of dimensional modeling, data architecture, and full-stack data delivery
  • Mainframe or z/OS experience, including JCL, Zeke, or navigating mainframe applications
  • Experience in insurance or financial services
