This role has been designated as 'Remote/Teleworker', which means you will primarily work from home.

Job Description:

HPE is seeking a Datacenter Technician to design, test and administer systems in support of the Supercomputing-as-a-Service (SCaaS) business. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a key business with considerable growth potential. In this role, you will be a contributing and important team member, working on solutions that will support a scaling customer base.

This role will be performed onsite at the data center in Lévis, QC.

There will be weekend/off-hours on-call rotation for this position.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Part of a regional on-site team to build and support a multi-tenant cloud-based Supercomputing-as-a-Service business
  • Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs system startups/shutdowns, following established guides and procedures
  • Onsite technician maintaining and supporting all aspects of the supercomputer system
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, triaging and then escalating system issues that may occur
  • Involved in system upkeep and upgrades, including hardware maintenance, warranty service, replacements and expansions
  • Perform hardware break/fix hardware swap and coordinate factory warranty services
  • Follows all security protocols as defined by the security architect
  • Works closely with Site Reliability Engineers to ensure systems are operational at all times


Experience and Skills
  • 5+ years of experience supporting IT equipment (Servers, Switchers ...)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working on or supporting enterprise grade server infrastructures
  • Hands-on experience with the tools and infrastructure to support HPC systems at scale including networking and storage
  • Flexible and comfortable working on a varying and broad set of issues that may arise from day to day
  • Proficient in the use and operation of Linux-based environments including shells, system configuration and administrative skills.
  • Prior experience with large-scale clustered systems (preferably HPC experience with parallel compute systems)
  • Applicable certifications: CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
  • An understanding of high-speed networks
  • An understanding of the security concerns in a cloud environment
  • Experience with common data center hardware including CPUs, GPUs, management, and network equipment
  • An understanding of high-performance computing
  • BS in Computer Science, IT Management, or equivalent

• Prépare, organise, configure et exécute les démarrages/arrêts du système, en suivant les guides et procédures établis
• Technicien sur site assurant la maintenance et le support de tous les aspects du système de supercalculateur
• Effectuer des diagnostics et des dépannages, trier puis faire remonter les problèmes système qui peuvent survenir
• Impliqué dans la maintenance et les mises à niveau du système, y compris la maintenance du matériel, le service de garantie, les remplacements et les extensions
• Effectuez des remplacements/réparations de matériel et coordonnez les services de garantie d'usine
• Suit tous les protocoles de sécurité tels que définis par l'architecte de sécurité
• Travaille en étroite collaboration avec les ingénieurs de fiabilité du site pour s'assurer que les systèmes sont opérationnels à tout moment

Expérience et compétences
5 ans et plus d'expérience en soutien d'équipement informatique (serveur, commutateur réseau ...)
5 ans et plus d'expérience pratique de travail ou de prise en charge d'infrastructures de serveurs de niveau entreprise
Expérience pratique des outils et de l'infrastructure pour prendre en charge les systèmes HPC à grande échelle, y compris la mise en réseau et le stockage
• Travail flexible et confortable sur un ensemble varié et large de problèmes qui peuvent survenir au jour le jour
• Maîtrise de l'utilisation et du fonctionnement des environnements basés sur Linux, y compris les shells, la configuration du système et les compétences administratives.
• Expérience préalable avec des systèmes en cluster à grande échelle (de préférence une expérience HPC avec des systèmes de calcul parallèles)
• Certifications applicables : CompTIA (A+, Server+, Network+), Basic Structure Cabling (BSC).
• Une compréhension des réseaux à haut débit
• Une compréhension des problèmes de sécurité dans un environnement cloud
