Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience designing and proposing a migration strategy using both Google Cloud differentiators and other cloud providers.
  • 10 years of experience in data center offloading leading to cloud migrations of enterprise workloads including VMs and Containers, VMware clusters, and Oracle technology and applications.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience in data center offloading leading to complex cloud migrations of enterprise workloads including VMs and Containers, and VMware clusters.
  • Experience with VMware and technology and licensing, including competitive positioning on migrations against other cloud providers.
  • Experience estimating all the costs for building TCO/ROI business cases.
  • Knowledge of migration tools, strategy and best practices, including both generic migration tools like migration center and specialized tools like VMware vMotion.
  • Knowledge of key migration aspects like security, compliance, governance and operations.

As a Practice Customer Engineer (CE) specializing in infrastructure migrations, you will partner with technical sales teams and other CEs to differentiate Google Cloud's secure, scalable platform to our public sector customers. You will serve as a technical expert responsible for accelerating technical wins for the migration of complex, mission-critical government and educational workloads, in close collaboration with platform CEs, Google Cloud Consulting, and specialized public sector partners.

You will leverage your expertise in our most strategic product areas to direct pilot migrations, proof-of-concepts, and demonstrations that showcase how agencies can modernize and migrate large-scale legacy environments. In this role, you will solve migration-centered technical challenges, ensure alignment with rigorous security and compliance standards, and provide a critical feedback loop to influence agency stakeholders, partners, and product development teams.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $152000 - $222000 (USD) 42.86% bonus target equity benefits

Responsibilities
  • Design the architecture and the migration strategy of enterprise workloads including VMware technology, also interacting with the customer stakeholders and testing the status quo proposing innovative and differentiating solutions to maximize customer value.
  • Support the account teams or the migration and transformation architects on the solution design with the architecture including VMware sourced workloads, and the detailed project planning and estimation.
  • Work with the account team to size the architecture as well as the migration costs, considering all costs like software licensing and network traffic and security, in order to support the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)/Return on Investment (ROI) estimation.
  • Support the account teams or the migration and transformation architects on the solution design with the target architecture including VMware and workloads, and the detailed project planning and estimation.
