Job Purpose:
The Counsel role reports to the head of the legal department and serves as an integral part of the organization by negotiating construction contracts, proactively mitigating risk, managing formal disputes, and providing legal advice. This role works closely with the project team and corporate departments to proactively identify and mitigate risk while promoting compliance with applicable laws. The Counsel position requires experience in construction law and contract drafting.
Essential Skills:
· Draft and negotiate contracts, including construction contracts, subcontracts, supplier agreements, financing consents and estoppels, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, consulting agreements, and commercial contracts.
· Mitigate risk and promote compliance through proactively providing legal advice, advising on key upstream and downstream risks, and drafting notices.
· Manage and advise on formal claims, disputes and litigation, working closely with outside counsel and the risk management department.
· Contribute to the development of legal templates, training, materials and best practices.
· Builds trust through transparency and consistency.

Education and Experience:
· Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
· Licensed to practice in or willing to become licensed in applicable jurisdiction(s).
· 5-10 years of experience

Pay Range: $140,000 - $215,000
