JOB SUMMARY:

Oversee the production of various types of equipment and systems. An important competency in this position is to research, test, implement, and analyze for effectiveness improvements for system and process. Success in this role will be demonstrated by meeting safety and quality standards while driving revenue increases through improved production processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Leads and trains Controls Techs in programing new launches and troubleshooting production equipment issues. Writes and edits machine control programs to interface process equipment to safely operate production equipment (i.e., program light guards) and avoid malfunctions. Conceives of, plans, designs, develops, and implements new systems and/or processes. Defines scope, plans, organizes, leads, directs technical work for new and existing processes and systems. Evaluates current manufacturing system hardware/software, equipment/controls, resolves problems, and makes recommendations for improvement (include cameras, sensors, and mechanical systems with PLCs). Create and Lead projects to increase equipment uptime using automation as a solution to control cost and efficiency. Works with internal and external resources to ensure all project needs/expectations are met. Supports continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and comply with automotive specifications. Assumes responsibility for machine safety and building equipment in respective area. Perform other duties as necessary for completion and achievement of departmental goals. Will provide maintenance operation troubleshooting and production support. May supervise and/or provide work direction to other staff. Know/Learn vision systems such as Keyence, Cognex, Datalogic. Training maintenance staff with new equipment as well as changes made to existing equipment. Ability to upgrade used equipment to run more efficiently. Other duties as assigned.

Performs all work in compliance with Magna Mirrors Lowell's Safety and Environmental policies and procedures as well as all Federal, State, and local laws. Understand the importance of conformance with all safety and environmental procedures of the environmental and safety management systems, including emergency response.

  • Report any unsafe condition or action to his or her supervisor.
  • Report any work-related injury to his or her supervisor within 8 hours.
  • Never operate a machine or equipment until trained in the operating procedures, hazards, and safeguards and has been assigned to do so by the employer.
  • Never remove, displace, destroy, or carry off any safeguard or interfere with the use by any other person.
  • Use required personal protective equipment or devices where required.


Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including IS014001. Understand the  actual or potential environmental consequences, when deviating from specified work instructions.  Attend Environmental, Health and Safety training as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Lead support in defining equipment standards for both new and existing equipment.

Oversees and directs the maintenance of all controls and documents related to the production equipment. Establishes and maintains all equipment controls and electrical systems required to support manufacturing. Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering preferred 3 to 5 years of work experience in a related field Experience with PLC (Allen Bradley) programming required. Experience with Allen Bradly and Fanuc robotics strongly preferred. Experience with ethernet JP devices, printers, barcode scanners, and PCs preferred. Excellent communication skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to determine customer needs to develop project specifications and scope. Ability to interpret and implement specifications. Experience with visual basic, python, ignition.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must maintain proper vision requirements.
  • Must be able to maintain alertness to their surroundings.
  • Must have working knowledge of English
